O.T. Canker Sores

Has anybody here been succesfull in treating these annoying little basterds? For the last few years i've been getting them everywhere in my mouth. Under my tongue, on my tooth gums, lips, throat and every time one heals a new one comes up.
Nobody really seems to know what causes them, could it be a bacteria, auto immune disease, stress, smoking or an allergic reaction? I've tried all sorts of mouthwash and vitamins but with no succes so far. Some say hydrogen peroxide works? any other ideas would be appreciated.
