Scalp exploded with sebum
I just took some pictures of my scalp with a folliscope and d a m n, it doesnt look good.
My scalp is EXPLODED with sebum, even in the non-MPB parts.
There is so much sebum at the base of the hair shafts that im amazed i have hair on my head. (It literally looks like its sufficating my roots)
Funny thing is im on a good diet. I'm also using Scalpure, and Dr bronner's magic shampoo.
So i guess the culprit here is LLLT. few weeks ago i was doing much better, and then re-started LLLT and this sebum maddness is happening again.
What do you guys think? the culprit here is LLLT?

Re: Scalp exploded with sebum
Iv been slacking on Polysorbate 80 lately too... Hmmm...
I guess its somewhat related to LLLT/polysorbate 80/slacking on B-Complex pills lately.
I kinda stopped P-80 because i heard some issues with it causing infertility
http://www.suite101.com/content/polysorbate-80-causes-infertility-a60320
got damn it, seriously. Is there anything out there that doesnt have cons and helps the hair?

Re: Scalp exploded with sebum
I didnt yet, i already ordered everything from Vitacost but its still not here yet... Gah!
Seriously look at this:
https://i.servimg.com/u/f64/15/44/60/49/sebumm10.jpg
I swear i had much less sebum before doing more LLLT. How can this be right? beat me...
Maybe the probiotics i take is bad? The only things i changed recently is:
More LLLT
4-5 days without probiotics (ran out)
Less P80
Changed shampoo for Dr Bronners
Started Scalpure
Less Vitamins (almost none)
Can anyone find a corrolation?

Re: Scalp exploded with sebum
FireFist,
Have you tried applying grapefruit seed extract and coconut oil (or emu oil) topically?
For sebum & dandruff, something as simple as drinking enough water can help.
Also, like jdp and CS already mentioned, a good shampoo or clay will help reduce sebum.

Re: Scalp exploded with sebum
In fact i have used GFSE for over a year topically and internally.
Hmmmm....
I was under the impression its more against fungus/candida rather than sebum

Re: Scalp exploded with sebum
Try adding some enzymes to your clay. Some ascorbic acid in water will help bromelain/papain to actually dissolve, and you can then mix it in with your clay mix without too much change in consistency. You could also buy some biofermented pumpkin enzyme and mix that straight in. The heat from your head covered in clay will help the enzymes get the job done. Straight pumpkin peels would help too, but those are pricey in my opinion.
Are you using a boar bristle brush? You'd be surprised how much one might help.

Re: Scalp exploded with sebum
Apple cider vinegar/ silver colloidal mix for a topical every time.
Any sebum or itch and that stuff works miracles, within an hour i'm walking around with hair that looks and feels like lassie. 20 sprays all over, massage into scalp, style your hair and leave it to dry - don't rinse. Try it. You can even just go with ACV though i think the colloidal works together.

Re: Scalp exploded with sebum
I have to say, you'll probably wont believe this but today at shower, i shed more than 300-400 hairs.
Actually mainly from donor area. Small hair from donor too, all shapes and sizes, almost feel like im on chemotherapy.
So hard to stay the course when there are absolutely zero results.
Infact my situation is quite terrible, after 3 months on curcumin/res/cava

Re: Scalp exploded with sebum
Firefist,
Have you ever tried Lugols Iodine 5% / Selenium internally? Or minerals like Manganese, Copper, Cobalt (VitB12) as Prague suggests?
These all take away my pulsating inflammation that comes with LOADS of sebum and scalp pimples for a good 6-8 hours.
I got great results with this when I recently added Manganese, Copper, Cobalt (Vit B12) (Internally)
Scalp feels great no inflammation or hardening.
Great topic if you want to experiment going this route. I would suggest everyone to atleast try these minerals.

I also had high levels of Heavy Metals and have been on Humulifavte/ MCP for 5 months now.

Randle,
Thanks for your input.
Can you provide a link what the supplement you take? you must be taking the B-12 in a different supplement right?

Re: Scalp exploded with sebum
Lots of experimentation to do here. My diet was always clean but I was still getting sebum/scalp pimples. I just started trying these minerals (Manganese, Copper, Cobalt (B12) About a week and a half ago. Its kinda to early for me to post regarding my results because I havent had time to compile all of this stuff and lay it out correctly. It sucks that Prague doesnt post here that much anymore, I'm sure his experience would be really helpful. I want to take some time and read through all of his posts because really I just experimented at these dosages so I wouldn't really know how much to recommend to you but you could try what I'm doing to start.
Also I would suggest that you dont use Propecia. I was getting stressed like you about 3 weeks ago and I took a 375MG of Beta Sitosterol which works similarly and got relief temporarily for 2-3 hours. So I ruled out that my scalp was possessed with excess DHT but Reading through IH's information regardless of DHT hairloss really comes down to Thyroid Function which is why I'm going this route.
I take this Multi Mineral
http://www.marketamerica.com/viewproducts/product-2242/isotonix-multimineral.htm
It contains
200mcg of Copper (Gluconate)
1mg of Manganese (Gluconate)
45mcg of Molybdenum (Sodium Molybdate)
I also take this Multi-Vitamin
http://www.marketamerica.com/viewproducts/product-2243/isotonix-multivitamin.htm
100mcg of Copper (Gluconate)
2mg of Manganese (Gluconate)
75mcg of Vitamin B12(Cyanocobalamin)
I take these two products together so each time I take them Im getting a grand total of 300mcg of Copper, 3mg of Manganese, 45mcg of Molybdenum (Sodium Molybdate), 75mcg of Vitamin B12(Cyanocobalamin).
I take these products in the morning and evening on empty stomach, along with Lugols Iodine and 200mcg of Selenium (L-Selenomethionine)
I also use IH's topical which you should use. Easy/Convenient.
I know theres alot of great topicals out there that work but I believe that they are temporary fix. I'd rather figure out the problem internally so I can get over it and move on with my life.
Again, I'm experimenting with this dosage. I think its worth to try these minerals because my scalp/hair has never felt better. Also I believe a poster "Norwegian Kid" said that Manganese killed his inflammation dead in tracks. Prague also suggested that hair loss has a simple key with this ratio.(Mn-Cu-Co) JDP commented on how gluten sensitive people have less levels of Manganese in them.
Good luck to all. After a month if the results are clear I'm hoping to make a victory thread about this!

There is a study which showed a topical of licorice and peppermint decreased sebum in the scalp. I would probably mix peppermint, licorice in a johoba oil base.
Other than that cedar wood oil is good for decreasing sebum.

tooyoung,
No hair success with Beta Sit. I believe that it is just a temporary way of relieving inflammation. It might work for 3-4 hours MAX. For me at least.
The thyroid approach is alot more effective in treating hair loss.

Wouldn't less inflammation = less hair loss? Yeah I'm going to start using iodine for the thyroid, believe it plays a big role.

Re: Scalp exploded with sebum
3-4 years ago I went to this hair treatment clinic. My hairloss was minimal, but I still was skeptic about it(since my father is bald). Anyway, they took photos of my scalp and it was too damn oily. It was similar to yours, maybe even more. The medical experts told me that with so much oil on my scalp the hair follicules would be unable to recieve the nutrients they normally should. They offered me a topical treatment with their own shampoo and a solution that I was supposed to use on my head three times a week for 2 -3 months. I went through with it(skipped it a few times though) and as a result my hair qualit significantly improved. My hair did really look good and the shedding was minimized. They told me to go with the rest of the treatment as well but I didn't, mainly because it was too damn expensive(the treatment I bought was around 1000$ and the further phases were even more expensive) and I once I realized my hair was ok, I didn't think it would be necessary. After a year or so, I realized that I started shedding again, and I started looking for alternative treatments(permanent and cheaper ones) and thats when I came across this forum.
I can't deny the benefits of the topical treatment, but it is not permanent. Your body keeps producing that oil/sebum... I haven't been able to use IH's topical lithium DMSO combo(I couldn't get a hold of lithium) but I used some other topical stuff like sesame/almond oil combo. They work to some extend, they certainly improve hair quality but they don't stop the shedding permamently.
Now I've started using ACV/coconut oil combo, and I'll report if I see any improvements.
