Lavender Revisited
This lavender extract I think is superior to lavender oil as a topical--although I combine both.

This is my fave anti-fungal/candida external.
For internal, Dr. Ohiras has turned a page for me.

Re: Lavender Revisited
That seems to be a potent lavender extract, how do you apply it? It is low on alcohol and may not absorb into the scalp well?

An option to enhance absorption is to get a 4 oz. bottle Amber dropper bottle, put 8% DMSO in, and then fill the rest up with the lavender extract. Shake it up a bit and woila, better absorbed.

I just use it straight--little in the palm, then massaged in.
The low alcohol content is what makes it acceptable for my needs.
I'd say this is the best benchmark for those interested in trialling lavender.
And the price doesn't prohibit.

What's the difference between this and the NOW Foods essential oil products? I have a few of their essential oils and they are pretty potent.
I tend to avoid alcohol in my topicals to minimize irritation as much as I can. I think most of the Now oils are steam or cold distilled.

Re: Lavender Revisited
this seems to work a bit deeper although I like the oil.
Personally, i use both, as I enjoy the aromatherapy the oil provides.
I think the extract will provide better results.

Re: Lavender Revisited
Does anyone think that applying a lot of anti bacterial/viral/fungals to the skins all the time might potentially be bad? Also internally (like GFSE, coconut oil, monolaurin etc), I mean a person can't take antibiotics for an extended period of time because it will kill off the good bacteria, and it can breed stronger bad bacteria. Can this do the same thing to the skin if you're putting GFSE on it all the time? I was applying yogurt topically for a while, but it didn't seem to help much with dandruff/scalp health.

Internally, I suggest Dr. Ohira's which supplants the bad with good, and seems to have the muscle to win.
Externally, in all my trials and errors, lavender has proven to be only a plus..

Re: Lavender Revisited
You should not take GFSE orally at all, since it wipes out friendly bacteria as well. There are much better alternatives: oregano oil, peppermint oil, garlic.
There is one probiotic that might top Dr. Ohhiras: home cultivated kefir.

Or take the kefir with the Dr. O's!
But, taking these anti-bacterials isn't bad as long as you're replenishing yourself with good bacteria consistently. Wipe out the bad/good, then replenish only the good.

When I took antobiotics last (severeal years ago) loose stool would have been a severe understatement !!!
Killing friendly bacteria should always be avoided.
