Optimal smoothie base Empty Optimal smoothie base

These nowadays so common health gurus often talks about smoothies and how important they are (both the gurus and the smoothies!) for your health. My question concerns the base, which I suppose should not be cow milk (if not unpasteurized). What else can we use as a base making those smoothies creamy and delicious but at the same time retain the healthy aura?

I use Almond Milk or Coconut Milk.
