Mineral Supplement Empty Mineral Supplement

Post  Swoosh Sat Aug 28, 2010 2:42 pm

What mineral supplements are you guys taking? I don't take a multi and was seeking to supplement my mineral intake so I compared products and decided on (and already ordered) the Source Natural's Ion Charge:

Anyone have an opinion on this particular product?

I'm not liking the bromide in there, but something like this would make a good base. Add more minerals over time.

Why would they supplement Bromide?. I thought it had no role in the body?.

It's from a natural source so they would have to specifically remove it. But there is even more chloride so I don't think the bromide would have it all its own way. I just started on Concentrace myself and it has bromide too.

a>r do you mean this type of thing is not really a solution for more serious mineral deficiencies i.e. you will definitely require to experiment and add individual elements too? In other words something like this is mostly a backup. If so, I just wonder why high doses of ionic traces in correct balance wouldn't do the job fully. Assuming intelligent use by the body - absorbing the needed, discarding the unneeded - should it not in theory work, albeit more slowly? (goes without saying other factors need to be considered - heavy metals, gut, diet, etc). I'm just thinking out loud and probably wrong - and I do in fact already have some individual elements under consideration - but perhaps just attracted by the approach because it would be fairly idiot-proof! Smile

Yeah, I wasn't too crazy about that either. I actually found one mineral supplement that had aluminum and flourine in it No .

I'm also not too crazy about it containing potassium benzoate. Why is this so commonly used in a lot of "health" products? I though there is solid evidence this forms carcinogens when interacting with vitamin C.

Calcium fluoride is good, sodium fluoride is bad.

bromide in sea salt or other natural places is fine. It's an ion thing.

Trace amounts of bromide is used in the brain. Take away too much of this beneficial bromide in the brain of someone suffering from Parksinsons and they'll get worse.

So again, avoid bromide in processed foods as it's the wrong ion/charge. Sources such as Concentrace you're fine.
