Re: very interesting speech
I've wondered about this, because there is a practitioner in Mission Viejo, California (Dr. David A. Steenblock), who performs personalized regenerative medicine as a specialty in his practice.
What he does is treat many degenerative conditions, usually neurological (stroke, Parkinson's, etc.) using stem cells extracted via injection from the hip bone marrow and reinserted into the target area with respect to the condition.
It would certainly be interesting--if anyone has some money to burn to try this for hair loss, because FDA approval isn't necessary when it's your own stem cells that are being used.

magic_gro - I saw that, well I've heard about him for years, because many patients have told me about him on several occasions. Sometimes good, sometimes to no result.
If I see a quackwatch mention of him, then immediately be skeptical--not of the doctor, but of the allegations, because there is a lot of slander against pioneering physicians.

Re: very interesting speech
Here is a quote from earthclinic ... not sure if accurate.
"In rats study on regeneration of ears and regrowing of amputated limbs, they found that generally rats can't regenerate ears, but a certain defective genes cause the rats to be able to regenerate ears and amputated limbs. The clue they found was that scarring tissue and dead proteins get digested. So the answer to regeneration appears to be anything that prevents scarring tissue and dead proteins form forming would help the healing much faster. I view the lack of regeneration in humans is also due to the fact that the scarring mechanism is done to quickly."

jdp701: I 100% agree with you. lizards regrow their limbs because they have no scarring. And my guess is that we as young embryos or young kids can heal to some impressive extent because back then we had a lot of decorin preventing any scarring...

by the way, if anybody knows of a *cheap* source of decorin... please holler!

Maybe this still all goes back to igf-1 and tgf-b and the insulin factor in regards to scalp/hair fibrosis but how we lose scalp/hair healing/regenration once the little buggers start to jump ship. Huh...

Hey Whip,
I was thinking similiar and why I posted the above quote. Just one area I was thinking .... reduced stomach acid (e.g. gluten) ----> fewer enzymes ----> fibrosis.
Of course that's just one of many.

I agree JDP. Digestive enzymes, etc. There has to be a way to see about regenerating the follicles. Maybe the anagen/telogen stage is really the waning regeneration of all the follicles (degrading).

phoenix21,
I retired the jdp710 name because this forum only saves 9 pages worth of topics I've posted under.
In other words, because I'm always looking at previous information I've posted before, I had to create a new name to make searches much easier.
