Kefir update Empty Kefir update

Post  Crusher Wed Apr 28, 2010 2:04 am

I have specified the kefir recipe a little bit.
Now I do it like this:

15 ml homemaded milk kefir +
5 ml onion juice

Don't apply the kefir on the same day you made the kefir.
The reason for it is that fresh kefir is extremly creamy
and this creamyness leaves deposits on the scalp (which - when combing -
will lead to mechanical hair loss). Apply the mix the next day.
The results are very good, no itching, no flaky scalp. My daily hair loss rate
is max. 5 hairs a day.

You don't have to use the whole 20 ml, when getting the feeling that your
scalp is saturated, stop the treatment.

1)Crusher, do you use raw milk to make your kefir? I can't find any by me.

2)Also, do you know of anywhere I can get onion juice? And is that raw onion juice?

3)How long do you leave the kefir on your scalp for?

Also, your description of how the layer of cream can cause "mechanical" hair loss interests me. I have battled pretty bad dandruf for a while and when it acts up I get A LOT more hair loss. Even when my scalp feels ok, sometimes I get some peeling on my scalp (possibly from topicals) and my hair comes out much easier. Anyone got any idea on how to stop this? Scalpure maybe?

Yanks,

1) I'm using homogenized milk

2) Yes, it is raw onion juice (divide an onion in two or more parts and scratch the juice with a sharp knife
blade out of the onion. Alternative you can use a juice extractor).

3) Overnight

What is the reason for the onion juice? Where did you hear about it?

How did I miss this?!

This could use a little bit more instruction Crusher.
Do you make the kefir weekly?
What about the onion juice?
Overnight or not?
And most importantly how smelly is it and how long does the smell last after you are done?

Yanks,
yes only homogenized milk. Don't use pasteurized milk.

j87x,
the idea behind is to fight the bacterial imbalance on the scalp.
Bacterial imbalance is one reason for hair loss. Both - kefir and onion juice -
have the property to kill fungi.

zerx,
'Do you make the kefir weekly?' => To keep the kefir grains alive you have to make the
kefir EAD. When starting with the kefir treatment apply the kefir during the first two weeks
daily. After this period twice a week.

'What about the onion juice?' see above

'Overnight or not?' Overnight

'And most importantly how smelly is it and how long does the smell last after you are done?' => Until washing your hair the next day.

Interesting. Glad your seeing success with it. Just a couple of questions:

1) You said you leave the kefir in overnight. Doesn't it get all over your pillow and make a mess? While I don't find the smell unbearable like a lot of people seem to do I wouldn't exactly want my bed to stink of it.

2) How frequently are you doing it? Every day, a couple times a week?

I really like water kefir, I can spray it on my head and it doesn't smell so I can just leave it there all day.

But doesn't it feel a bit slimy being on your hair all day? Or doesn't it look odd having a white cream in your hair all day?
And how effective is the water kefir compared to milk?

water kefir isn't a white cream, it's more like gatorade.

Dave,

I guess the information of my grain source is unfortunately worthless,
because I'm living in Europe where I ordered my grain and you - I'm supposing - live in the United States.
May be this link is an option for your country: http://www.kefirlady.com/
