What kind of Kefir?
I know a few of you guys are growing your own Kefir. Where do you recommend buying the grains from? Any tips/advice you have after using it for a bit? What have your results been like?

I drink milk kefir in the morning and waterkefir made on lemon, ginger and raisins in the evening. It is good stuff, and very potent probiotic drinks. I recommend it to anyone, especially the waterkefir since it can be made in many different ways with various herbs, fruits etc. The contain different strains so combining the two is ideal!

So, do you make your own or buy the kind that can be found at Whole Foods, etc.? I heard the premade kinds in grocery stores aren't that good.

I dont have experience with the commercial ones but I know that they cant reproduce so they "wear out" out six-seven batches, whereas the real living grains (colonies) they GROW by every batch! I got waterkefir grains from a lady in rthe UK vua ebay and milkkefir from an exchange student local to me.

How do they contain different strains? Does one of more strain grow better in water, i don't understand.
also how much kefir should you drink daily? I just received my grains, poured 2 cups of milk on them like instructions said. Are you supposed to drink the whole remaining two cups of liquid after you strain them?
