Basically I went to WAY to many gigs when I was a bit younger and like, after one of them I think I messed my ears up a bit Sad

Mild tinnitus, sensitivity, occasional earache, slight reduction in hearing...

It's not unbearable, but I'd love to heal them or improve them somehow... I don't think there's much doctors can do as you can't really operate on the ear (don't get me wrong I probably wouldn't do this anyway and they aren't THAT bad) and there isn't much they can prescribe as far as I am aware.

Basically, I just want to make them as strong as I can again... is it possible?

I mean, I was kinda hoping that like in the same way that hyaluronic acid, beta-carotene, vitamin A, xeoxanthins etc help the body to repair and improve the eye, isn't there anything that has a comparable effect on the ear?

Hoppipolla - Melatonin is for the tinnitus, antioxidants will help the hearing.

I mean as part of the lil regimen I am putting together I believe there will be at least two good antioxidants (I'm sorry for not following the whole top 3 or top 6, I'm just kinda feeling my way along I guess and seeing how it goes! I'm taking a lot of advice from you though!) - I will be taking alpha-lipoic acid (it's just a bit cheaper than r-lipoic but I may switch sometime Smile ), brewer's yeast... and possibly at some point spirulina and/or curcumin. I am also on a much better diet so I'm sure there are more in my foods too!

How will antioxidants help my hearing? May it improve?

So, there are no like, vitamins or nutrients that are good for the body's healing of ears? I'm not sure which bits are most likely to be damaged ._.

I remember reading that tinnitus was a symptom of excess insulin and hypoglycemia? I get it on occasion as well. It seems to happen mostly after large meals for me.

Hoppi- There are a few different options out there by way of supplements in regards to tinnitus. Like hair loss, tinnitus is something I have dedicated a lot of my time in researching as I too have had it for the last couple years. Generally, supplements that increase blood circulation and therefore circulation to the inner ear, are said to alleviate tinnitus in some people. The most famous example would probably be Gingko Biloba which if you are familiar with it, is used for many other things. The nootropic vinopectine is also used by tinnitus sufferer's in this regard. There are natural products specially formulated for tinnitus such as lipoflavonoid which operates under the same theory of increasing blood circulation to the inner ear. Additionally there are many homeopathic remedies for tinnitus such as "ring stop".
Magnesium and Zinc are also hugely important in ear health and it has been shown that magnesium excretion occurs drastically after noise exposure. There are studies that show that both magnesium and n-acetyl-cysteine (NAC) have been shown to protect against noise induced hearing loss. The book "Natural Relief from Tinnitus" by Paul Yanick is dated but has some good info in it.
Paradox mentioned the link between excess insulin and that's absolutely correct, there is a study that shows that "between 84 and 92% of tinnitus patients were shown to have a metabolic disorder called hyperinsulinemia."
Hopi I feel for you, it can be really annoying at times but it doesn't have to be. I've kept mine pretty calm just by small changes such as curbing my sugar consumption as well as taking magnesium on a regular basis. I do plan to start taking Ginkgo regularly soon as well. Just google any of this stuff that you find interesting to get more info cause it's out there; just have to sift through it and fight against tinnitus the same we fight against hair loss.

Like I say though the tinnitus doesnt really bother me that much, mine is very mild. I just want to see if I can boost my ear health somehow and encourage them to heal (particularly reducing sensitivity, but anything else is a bonus! Smile )

So, do you think zinc, magnesium and n-acetyl-cysteine might help them? I wanna make them as healthy as possible again ^_^

If hearing sensitivity (hyperacusis) is your main concern then I would definately supplement with magnesium as mag deficiency is usually found in those with hyperacusis. Zinc would be good too but does not directly effect it. NAC only serves to protect from further noise induced damage by reducing the free radicals that attack the hair cells when exposed to dangerous noise levels. It does not do much in reducing damage already done. Like most things, supplements that improve overall general health will help ears and hearing as well.
