Best ways to lower blood pressure naturally
IH,
I recently went in for a procedure on a varicose vein that needed to be shut down with a laser and then removed from my lower leg since it was leaking blood/hemoglobin into my ankle and changing the skin color down there. Before and after the procedure, they checked my blood pressure and I was on the high side. 132/90
I'm just wondering if you could put together a laundry list of methods to help your BP get down. I refuse to get on BP prescription medication.
I already exercise and follow a good diet.
Do I need to drop caffeine products?
Any thoughts would be appreciated as I'm tired of going into doctors who check my BP and look at me as if I'm about to stroke out in front of them.

Re: Best ways to lower blood pressure naturally
hadrion - A blood pressure reading of 132/90 is not bad. A little over a decade ago, having a blood pressure reading of 140/100 was considered normal, however the pharmaceutical companies have successfully changed the perception that having a reading that is over 120/80 is warranted for treatment.
Statistically there's no advantage to lowering blood pressure unless you read above 160/120. As far as stroke prevention and blood pressure, if the desire is still there to lower levels, I would suggest celery seed extract, taken a few times per day. It increases nitric oxide, acts as a diuretic, lowers uric acid levels in response to glucose products and decreases reactive oxygen species. Further, several studies show strong defense against stroke, such as reperfusion-induced blood-brain barrier damage protection.

Also, here's a section on a few things to consider on blood pressure, which some of them are over looked by the orthodox medical establishment.

Re: Best ways to lower blood pressure naturally
The other issue is because I work out a lot, I have pretty large "guns" so their cuff is too small for me. Even the nurse admitted the cuff was too small. She at first took it on my forearm and got a ridiculously high reading and then decided to do it on the upper arm anyway over my shirt.
I already do take the celery seed extract, but I wasn't taking it religiously leading up to this procedure the other day. I'm waiting on 2 bottles of it from iherb.
I also was very nervous/anxious about them removing/ripping superficial veins from my lower leg although the procedure wasn't bad and the recovery this week has been going well.
I just want to make sure I'm taking all the natural supps I should to control BP.
We also just switched to Himalayan Pink Crystal salt from regular salt. We went into Trader Joe's this week and they now sell their own brand of it with a built in grinder in the container for $2.99. It's a small bottle of it, but it should last for awhile.

hadrion - I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if you had a case of whitecoat syndrome. Typically when patients get their blood pressure checked, there's a little bit of anxiety and it's enough to raise blood pressure up a decent amount, especially with a cuff which is too small--it's a pretty strong indication that your real blood pressure reading is less.
Thanks for the tip about Trader Joe's, I didn't know they have their own HS.

It's a brand new product for them. It may have actually been $1.99 to be honest. I can't remember. I just saw it and bought it since I've heard that's what we should be using.
I love that the container has the large crystals and you grind them up like a pepper mill to get your salt. We just starter using a day or two ago.
As for white coat syndrome I definitely believe I have it. I HATE going to doctors, especially since I take all the supps that I do and I don't want to tell them and explain the regimen I'm on to them, yet I feel you should tell them everything you're on just in case. It's very frustrating.
