Hyperkalemia (high potassium)
Hey, question for you CS!
I have been eating alot of fish, avocados and green vegetables and it seems like I have a problem with potassium levels now
I have adrenal fatigue and although I consume alot of sea salt it seems like I can't retain water at all so I'm thinking I might have low aldosterone. Now my problem is that eating avocados helps my hair so much I don't want to have to stop.
Is there anything I can do? My symptoms are palpitations and tingling/pain in extremities, a bit scary to be honest... Not sure what to do really..
Help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Hyperkalemia (high potassium)
Icanbeatthis - That doesn't sound like you have hyperkalemia, and unless you're type I diabetic, have Addison's disease, or have had kidney problems, wouldn't worry about it. Have you tried Magnesium to regular your heart rhythm?

Re: Hyperkalemia (high potassium)
Yeah I use magnesium oil everyday already...
I just don't get it, could someone with constant mental stress have more trouble with potassium rich foods without necessarily having hyperkalemia? I definitely do not have type 1 diabetes and at last checkup my fasting blood glucose was fine and my diet shouldn't put me at risk considering it's so clean...
I'm really just confused here!
Either way, thanks for taking the time to answer CS.

Re: Hyperkalemia (high potassium)
You did not say how you figured you have AF and hyperkalemia.
In later stages of AF you are not producing enough Gluco and mineral coticoids (Cortisol, DHEA and Aldosterone, etc). IN the absence of any other condition this stage of AF will have low blood pressure, loss of sodium, frequent urination, etc. All of this is listed in the AF symptoms you may have already read before.
If you are low on aldosterone, low on sodium, and your kidneys are dumping sodium - taking Sea salt should be helpful (which are you are alreadY). In this situation, as your body continues to dump sodium, potassium tends to accumulate unopposed (as you lack sodium). Therefore, eating potassium rich food items (or supps) are not recommended. As soon as learned that I am low on aldosterone, I have not touched a banana since then....
If you are right, if you are in AF, and if your aldosterone is low - I would think you should avoid anything rich with potassium. At this stage balancing your minerals are more important than your hair....
Hopefully you are not running softwater in the house and using potassium salt to soften the water....I was and have since stopped.

Re: Hyperkalemia (high potassium)
I did a cortisol test 4 times a day last year, my cortisol was pretty low. I am already taking alot of salt, I am going to reduce my intake of potassium rich foods and see how it goes I guess...

Re: Hyperkalemia (high potassium)
What are you doing for your AF ? Aldosterone is just one hormone, what about the others (cortisol, DHEA) ?

And if you are in AF, most likely you are suffering from Hypo Thyroids as well.
