swansons discontinues their brand of Krill?
I placed an order at Swansons the other day and bought 2 bottles of Krill Oil (Swansons brand, the one w/90 caps) along with other supps.
They shipped me the order without the Krill. When I went to the site to check my order, the Krill oil was labeled "discontinued".
When you search under Krill oil the swansons brand one isn't on the site anymore.
IH, any thoughts on another reputable brand to get our Krill from?
This sucks. Swansons had the best price with 90 caps for $18 and change.

hadrion - I heard about this, it's really too bad. Lately, I've been using iherb for my krill because I like the fast shipping.
That said, I've been ordering this stuff:
http://www.iherb.com/Now-Foods-Neptune-Krill-Oil-500-mg-120-Softgels/11215?at=0
They also have the smaller quantity too.

Swanson's have NOW Krill 60 caps for $16.86 which works out cheaper than the 120 caps from iHerb. Of course you could always buy 2 and price match for the same price but quality & shipping from iHerb, plus then they still get your business.
Swanson also has ECE for $24.11 which is a good $8/less per bottle than iHerb (once again, pricematch, etc).

Re: swansons discontinues their brand of Krill?
Can someone pls explain the pricematch thing? I tried doing it twice for Fibroboost pasting the link for swanson's and another site's price but Iherb refused to offer me a discount, instead they recommended another product as better value for money i.e Doctor's Best ECE instead of Fibroboost
How do you succeed in doing this?
By the way they haven't upgraded me to VIP customer even though I've been ordering every month since september 2008

The availability of "Neptune" Krill Oil must have played a factor in all of this. I wouldn't be surprised though if they are trying to source another manufacturer. May take some time. Either way it was unfortunate.

From what I've learned about Krill Oil, we may have been wasting our money all along. I'll make a post soon with some information.

I'm gonna find that one hard to believe. We pulled my Mom off her cholesterol meds and put her on Krill Oil (swansons brand) and her numbers improved to the point that she wasn't considered at risk and in need of cholesterol meds any longer. Her doctors were baffled. She didn't change her diet at all. Her doctor started taking it himself.

I just ordered KriaXanthin Krill Oil from here, $18 for 120 caps
I don't know about bulknutrition j87x, their product is half the price but provides less than half the omega-3's.
Bulknutrition
Total Omega-3 Fatty Acids 130 mg *
EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) 50 mg *
DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) 20 mg *
NOW
Omega-3 Fatty Acids 300 mg
Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) 150 mg
Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) 90 mg
Other Omega-3 Fatty Acids 60 mg

This is true, but it is about the same as Swanson's.
Swanson
Omega-3 Fatty Acids 115 mg
EPA 57.5 mg
DHA 32.5 mg
That is for a 1 softgel serving size though and not 2.
Still, taking bulknutrition's is still better than taking several grams of cod liver/fish oil isn't it?

For a minute there I was really happy and was about to order a 6 month supply. However, the new batch of Swansons Krill oil is less concentrated ... especially the Astaxanthin.
Here's what the old batch of Swanson's Krill Oil use to be
Total Phospholipids 200 mg
Omega 3 Fatty Acids 150 mg
EPA 75 mg
DHA 45 mg
Omega 6 10 mg
Omega 9 42.5
Astaxanthin 750 mcg!!!
So again, beware everyone as it's changed. I'm personally going with NOW especially when I look at the Astaxanthin content in the new batch ... it's a good sunscreen.

Re: swansons discontinues their brand of Krill?
jdp710 - Looks like Swanson's is no longer using Neptune Krill Oil (NKO) brand, and are probably using some other source.
Thanks for pointing that out!

Re: swansons discontinues their brand of Krill?
Directo - I don't think you'll see that post. I spoke with nidhogge last week on the phone about the content of the information. Fortunately, the information he received did not appear to be reliable, so it is scrapped.
As far as Swansons, their new brand of krill oil is from an inferior source. They are no longer using the trustworthy NKO branding (Neptune krill oil), so you're best off buying something like Now Brand, who uses NKO product krill.
Krill oil blows away standard fish oil.

CS-
regarding krill oil, what if one takes a single 500mg capsule with each meal, totalling 1000-1500mg/daily ? Is that fine ?Or better take 1gr krill w one meal and accompany the rest of the meals w fish oil?
In your "current regimen" page, you write "take a 1000mgs once or twice daily.

Re: swansons discontinues their brand of Krill?
edony - Either way should be fine. If money is no object, 3 grams of krill per day has some nice effects. Typically I'll take two 500 mg caps with one or two of my meals.

Re: swansons discontinues their brand of Krill?
I bought the new version of Swansons to get me through the next 45 days or so and then I'll switch to the NOW brand.
I'm glad to hear you checked on the info Nid had on the Krill Oil being a waste as I totally believe in it's effectiveness. My Mom's blood test results would not be better than when she was on prescriptions cholesterol meds if it wasn't working in some capacity.

Re: swansons discontinues their brand of Krill?
I had the Swanson's NKO Krill Oil back-ordered and they filled the order with their newer (inferior) product. That kind of ticks me off so I may have to give them a call. I would rather get credit towards another purchase.
