OT: waking up with vertigo and nausea? Empty OT: waking up with vertigo and nausea?

Post  Paradox Fri Oct 30, 2009 6:11 am

My mother has waken up with vertigo, nausea and some pressure in the back of her head/neck for two days. "I woke up and the room was spinning." I've tried to find anything that she has consumed differently in the last two days. Possibly a little chocolate at night and more sodium than she has been. Does anyone have any ideas on what it may be? Thanks

JHarsh80 - It could be caused from bacteria in the inner ear. She would have to undergo some tests on this one.

Thanks guys, she's at the MD as I type. Her ND did ask if she had any neck trauma tommash, and I know it could be due to misalignment of the spine. I'll wait and see what her Dr. says. I am concerned that he may throw her on antibiotics if she has an infection. She is just getting her gut health back since eliminating gluten and cleansing diet. I would hate to see her take an antibiotic, although I have no idea if that is even protocol for an ear infection. I'm assuming that ear drops would be rx'd to her, but I know Dr.s hand out antibiotics like candy. What would be a natural way to eliminate bacteria in the inner ear CS, do you know? Tea Tree oil? Would it get all the way in there?

Another angle would be to check her cortisol levels in the early morning. Low cortisol production can cause these symptoms: Low cortisol --> Low aldosterone --> Low blood pressure --> Orthostatic hypotension.

It could also be low blood sugar in the AM as well. Good luck....

Thanks Lund,

It turned out to be broken off cilia(?), for lack of remembrance of any basic anatomy terminology, floating around in the inner ear. This was throwing her balance off, but the hairs must have settled somewhere because she is much better now.
