What would be the best way to treat bipolar disorder using alternative therapies? Anyone's thoughts? Thank you for any help you can give me.

Carnivore diet hands down probably the most effective.

Also

Niacin therapy (research Dr. William Kaufman)

Lithium Orotate, 10 milligrams twice a day

Also niacinamide treatment with up to 2,000 mg or more per day, taken in divided doses

this was a real eye-opener for me

https://hubermanlab.com/dr-chris-palmer-diet-nutrition-for-mental-health/

Chris Palmer, M.D., a board-certified psychiatrist and assistant professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He explains the important connection between nutrition, metabolism and mental health and his pioneering work using the ketogenic diet to successfully treat patients with various mental illnesses, including depression and schizophrenia. Dr. Palmer explains how the ketogenic diet is an evidenced-based treatment for epilepsy, mimics the fasted state and can offset the cognitive decline in Alzheimer’s.

Also agree with CS, on carnivore diet.

Dr. Shawn Baker Podcast has a number of guests getting rid of all sort of issues by switching to carnivore.

For those of us that have trouble keeping on weight how do you maintain a decent weight on the carnivore diet?

As often as I've seen carnivore videos, this question never seems to come up. I've been on carnivore for at least 6-months,
but I'm not the type that has trouble gaining weight. That said, I have heard from some people that consuming a lot of extra butter sticks seems to help but on mass.

I've seen quite a number of videos from people who when eating carbohydrates triggers emotional instability, similar to how some alcoholics can lose all sense of rationale. Research has shown that there is a relationship between glut-4 expression and excitotoxicity, with some studies suggesting that a decrease in glut-4 expression may contribute to excitotoxicity in certain conditions such as diabetes and alcoholism.

Some studies have found that individuals with bipolar disorder have abnormal glucose metabolism, including changes in insulin sensitivity and glucose uptake in certain brain regions. So there is some indication that some individuals with bipolar disorder have changes in the expression of glucose transporters such as GLUT-4 in the brain.

CS,

I have noticed this recently as I have been eating more carbs/sugar lately and I have had an uptick in anxiousness.
