How to get rid of tartar and plaque buildup

Is there anything we can do to effectively get rid of tartar and plaque buildup? Anything that is strong enough to dissolve? Or is the only solution a mechanical one with tartar removing tool? What about these sonic device or anything else unheard of.

I do have a bottle of Periogen, perhaps I haven't used it regularly enough, but struggling to get rid of tartar with it.

According to some new(?) discoveries, plaque is a biofilm with beneficial bacteria, which enables the remineralisation of the teeth.

One way to eliminate plaque build-up, a carnivore diet usually works.

Green tea helps reduce plaque.
