How important is it to supplement Magnesium? From what I have heard Magnesium
is easy to obtain by eating regular foods.

Pretty important. Magnesium is depleted by stress and you cannot get enough by diet. Foods have very low amounts of magnesium

Joejoe do you know why Magnesium in the Orotate form is hard to find in ordinary stores. If Orotate is
the best form then why is it rarely mentioned and hard to find? Oxide seems to be the common standard.

Maybe Orotate has some unwanted risks associated with it that we are not aware of?

cpio - Orotate Magnesium is a lot more expensive. Magnesium oxide is dirt cheap, so the profit margin is way higher.

I had my dad purchase the Mag. Orotate from Beyond-a-Century.com. 200 1g servings (75mg elemental magnesium I believe) for 20 bucks is a good deal. That'd last me 3 months.

Should magnesium orotate be taken with something else in order to boost absorption?

Misirlou - Mag Orotate is already virtually 100% absorbed.

Why is magnesium citrate never mentioned? It's highly bioavailable for the price, and it is available at the local pharmacy. I suspect that you may be able to find orotate at a sports nutrition store like GNC because athletes commonly use it.
