How to remove calculus from under gums
I recently removed some calculus build up on my bottom front teeth, I think I got most of it off, except it the back there seems to be some near the gum line. Right now I have no medical or dental insurance and don't want to lose my teeth. As a matter of fact I don't even know if the build up is under the gumline.
When I get money I will probably see a holistic dentist in the chicago are in about a month, month and a half. Until then I will be oil pulling, brushing and salt water rinses.
I don't know if it is under the gumline, but if it was are there any foods that work from the inside out the break the build up apart?

Re: How to remove calculus from under gums
A few things that work really well for me. First be careful about using salt on the gums or mouth. There are the baking soda and salt toothpastes also. Salt will make sores in the mouth; both topically and if your diet is too high in sodium. Better to use a hydrogen peroxide rinse to kill bacteria.
Secondly for 20 years I have used dental hook picks to remove calcified plaque. You can often get them at hardware stores. If you start by looking in the mirror with your mouth wide open, and scraping only the deposits, you will learn to avoid scraping the tooth much. Use this to clean under the gumline also. I have never had a dentist comment on any damage that I might have caused.
Third, get some plastic toothpicks. They are at some pharmacies. Use the hard plastic to daily clean your gumline, and carry them with you for after you eat.
Next get the revolution in toothbrushing. For about $16 you can get a panasonic sonicare toothbrush. They vibrate with batteries and clean so much better without over scrubbing or pulling away the gums from directional brushing. Only get one with replaceable batteries and look for the cheap model.
