Hey all

Some basic information on flax lignans:

There's lots of other fun information on flax lignans. People say it messes up your estrogen levels but from what I've read it seems to NORMALIZE them instead.

1.  Buy plain greek yogurt, totally unflavored, I heard that the healthiest ones have around 18 or so grams of protein per cup (150 grams?).  I use Chobani but I haven't researched others much.

2.  Buy ground flaxseed meal, it's ridiculously cheap.

3.  Mix 2-3 HEAPED tablespoons into the yogurt and eat.

It's literally cocaine.

That was my primary treatment in the mid 2000's....

It wasn't enough for me, however there are benefits with the estrogen balancing.

Wow, I was reading up on them for awhile but didn't realize how powerful they were!

I used to just take them by mouth by the tablespoon, it wasn't bad but then I discovered them in Greek yogurt, and that's it, now I EASILY get 3 heaped tablespoons per day!

I was eating ground flax seeds for a while but I came across a lot of negative info about nuts, seeds, beans and grains.  What is the verdict on eating these? It's an important question to many health and fitness enthusiasts as something should to be eaten other than dairy,  meat and vegies to give some variety. I have chia, buckwheat, flax and oats right now.  I usually soak.

I buy them already ground, it's almost like a powder.

I have whole fat Greek Yogurt. Is that better or worse than low fat and skim? I read that the higher fat content helps to better absorb the fat soluble vitamins. But I'm not sure.

I'm not sure but I always avoid artificially "reduced fat" products.

Look for a good mix of active cultures, I read that a good one should have around 18 or so grams of protein.

If you want the fat purely for absorption, you can just take a tiny teaspoon of coconut oil or something with it.

Supplements? I never actually heard of coconut oil supplements but I assume the actual oil would be much, much more cost effective.

I recently bought it from Puritans Pride. 1000 mg per liquid cap. 120 per bottles. 2 bottles (240 caps) was about $16. 2 caps have 25 calories. I guess it is cheaper to just buy a jar of the organic or virgin coconut oil.

Yeah I really don't think coconut oil supps are cost effective at all, I bought like a 1 pound jar of oil for that same price.

true, but I can carry along these supplements to work etc. What about taking coconut oil on empty stomach during an intermittent fast?
