So I have an dime sized patch of smooth skin that appeared on my beard on my chin literally overnight. Its been about 3 weeks now and has not changed- smooth as a babies butt. I looked it up and some people said it started happening after taking certain supplements. My wife decided she wanted to pick up some supplements from the Vitamin Shop like SAM-E, B Complex, B12, and Omega 3. I decided to take these with her for a couple weeks even though I usually wouldn't... After I read up on the missing facial hair I quit taking them immediately. Some people said it took a year to grow back. Has this happened to anyone here before?

Hey, this probably won't help the cause much, but if you really want to grow your facial hair faster (and by extension, maybe help that smooth patch you describe), you could try MSM.

I take a lot of MSM powder, at least 25 grams a day, and my facial hair grows extremely fast now.  Before MSM I wouldn't have to shave for days, but now it's thicker and faster growing, not to mention the crossover hair and general health benefits.

For me it's actually a burden as I like to be clean shaven lol Very Happy

Might look into that, I only take a couple grams a day.

No one else has heard of this before??

That sounds like alopecia barbae. It is thought to be an autoimmune condition, very common . I get those time to time. The hair always grow back, but it takes six months to a year.

My boyfriend used to get these patches about 5 years ago, I'm not sure if he still does as his beard is quite long now so that might hide it if he does. He thought it might be from dental infections.
