Astaxanthin & 5ar
Hi there
Wanted to know if people think 12mg every weekday is too much? Would it inhibit 5ar more than required? I knaw that there are other health benefits, but want to see if I'm overdoing it. Any studies on longer term use (e.g. 4-6 months)?

Re: Astaxanthin & 5ar
I used it for a year or more at a 8mg to sometimes 12mg dosage because I was taking in hopes it'd increase my athletic performance. This was before mpb. When mpb hit I stopped everything I was taking and frantically began researching what might be causing my hair loss, hoping it wasn't genetics. In short, all I noticed was my skin had a healthier glow as I took more. No negatives, though, it obviously didn't stop my hair loss on its own.

Re: Astaxanthin & 5ar
Thanks..good to hear from another long term user. It seems that there are a lot of overall health benefits. Is it fair to presume that you didn't see any hair improvements? I'm wondering if the whole 5ar thing is overstated in those clinical studies.

Yeah, zero hair improvements but it's a great supplement for your overall health. I attribute Asataxanthin to the fact I've mysteriously been having to go down prescriptions on my contacts as well. But, who knows really. The only visible effect I can observe with certainty is the skin tone improvement.

I'm not so sure on the whole 5ar thing. You would think 9 months+ on something like Astaxanthin at that dosage would make some difference. Unless of course, its down to the fact that astaxanthin (or any other herbal) has nothing on fin

I believe there is a piece to the puzzle we're missing. Finasteride is doing more that we don't know about. Take a look at this thread for another example: https://immortalhair.forumotion.com/t8272p30-ecklonia-cava-as-effective-as-propecia-if-i-m-understanding-this-paper-correctly-why-is-no-one-talking-about-this
EC should be competing with Fin, but it's not. I'm not saying EC is a bad supplement either, I'd have to try it myself, but it's not a one pill wonder, whereas many men pop a small fin pill and go along with their day with no other form of regimen involved. But, in Astaxanthin's case, if you can afford it keep taking it. I just remembered another benefit is when I was taking dosages like I was, it was almost like sunburns were a thing of the past. And...I'm very fair and used to sunburn with even a few minutes exposure. Now the sun actually tans me and I'd never received so many compliments in my life the first summer I was on astax.

Re: Astaxanthin & 5ar
Thanks..I have been using EC for a long time. While I understand its potency as an antioxidant, its not done much for hair loss imo
