Anybody tried procyanidin? Why am I getting negative reactions?
It has been documented that procyanidin can promote hair growth, in a similar manner to minoxidil (search on ncbi). Since apple polyphenol contains this compound, I tried Swanson's Max Strength Apple Polyphenols Extract. For some reason, my body had severe negative reactions to it and I shedded significantly more hair after consuming it. I was a little doubtful, but went ahead and stopped taking polyphenol. The next day, hair shedding decreased to almost normal level and my hair felt much stronger.
This type of instantaneous reaction is related to allergy, usually due to gut issue (for me, sulfate reducing bacteria overgrowth) or histamine reaction (liver issue). I am not really sure why apple extract gave me severe shedding. I tested very slightly positive to apple in a food sensitivity test (almost normal). Maybe extract is too much for me to handle? Has anybody had similar experience from polyphenol extract? Please share your story and suggest other hair growth promotor besides biotin/MSM/sulfur. Thank you in advance.

Re: Anybody tried procyanidin? Why am I getting negative reactions?
There is a relationship between histamine reactions and heavy metals. Translation: Lots of people do not get results form "X" supplement because of some other toxin. Heavy metals (sometimes toxic mold) is the most common reason.
So when I read that "X & Y" supplement doesn't work for whoever, there's usually more going on.
Back to the original topic....yes various polyphenols can help, I prefer the ones with the most potent action (there are sometimes individual variances), however they do work better when other problems are dealt with (other toxins and gut issues).

what ones do you use ?
a well known company refunds people if they get no regrowth
also, we generally oppose the idea of taking a single supplement to solve hair loss
