Re: Longevity Post Video - Diet & Hair Loss
Thanks for all of that info, CS. Was a really good podcast. What do you think about vegans and their avoidance on PUFAs? How can you achieve both?

While I do not fully embrace the ideas of Peat, I believe the "secret" to the avoidance of PUFAs has to do with how sugar and these types of fats interact.
For example, the enzyme Glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GPDH) is activated when PUFA's and sugar are combined. So avoidance of PUFA's would allow one to consume more sugar without the detriment of over production of fatty build up in the liver, per this enzyme.
Personally, I don't worry about PUFA's, I eat them all the time. I just take omega-3 (krill oil), so no worries.
From a vegan perspective, it seems silly to avoid PUFA's. In fact instead of krill or other type of Omega-3, would recommend a form of GLA (gamma linolenic acid) for vegans.
For example something like this: http://www.iherb.com/Now-Foods-Black-Currant-Oil-Double-Strength-1000-mg-100-Softgels/46686?=hil335
It's good for hair, good for the libido and it reduces 5-AR at the same time.

Re: Longevity Post Video - Diet & Hair Loss
I always wonder why was Bryan stating that GLA content of natural oils can reduce 5ar only in their chemical free-form and not in the form of oils and that fatty acids from nutritional sources just won't work for that purpose.. Are there any studies about this ?

Vitamin E
aspirin, (also good topically)
niacinamide,
coconut oil
caffeine
protect against PUFA
meat isn't the problem
sugar/starch isn't the problem
even dairy isn't the problem
PUFA from seed oils are, but found in lots of other things

Yes, that's another good option.
