Humifulvate: Is it safe?
I started taking humifulvate (http://www.iherb.com/Enzymatic-Therapy-Complete-Metal-Cleanse-30-Veggie-Caps/4926) and had some odd effects. After my first dose, I felt very light headed and "foggy".
I don't understand how this can be a detox reaction since the humifulvate is not suppose to leave the intestinal tract. It's just suppose to pull stuff your body has already eliminated out.
Upon further reading, it seams humifulvate attracts metals through ion exchange. Would it be possible to get contaminated humifulvate that had already absorbed metals? In which case you would just be adding toxic metals into your system.

Re: Humifulvate: Is it safe?
Here's what is happening.
When there's a reduction of toxins, more glutathione is shuttled (upon release of disposed toxins) to bind to additional toxins. When the cells are suddenly lifted of some burden, the body wants to "clean house," and it will often result in a detoxification reaction. In other words, you will have more toxins eliminated than it can rid out.
This is not unusual at all.
It will help somewhat to take additional vitamin C to support this detox reaction.

Re: Humifulvate: Is it safe?
Thanks CS.
I am taking Vitamin C along with selenium, iodine, zinc, and magnesium. Would continuing with the recommended dosage be advisable or should I maybe scale back to every other day to allow my body a chance to "catch up"?
Also, would correcting gut flora be a better way of eliminating heavy metals? Or do the two go hand in hand (i.e. chicken or egg scenario)?
Thx again.

Re: Humifulvate: Is it safe?
Hey Baller,
I posted a similar thread just a few months ago. I had a gnarly headache after awaking from taking two caps and supporting supps. I took 2,000 of pureway vitamin C and that took care of the "hangover".
I'll let CS answer the metal gut connection because they are very related to my understanding.

baller234 - Reducing your dosage would be a good idea until your body "catches up."
Also, the gut microflora (adding probiotics) will help with detoxification, including heavy metals.

Re: Humifulvate: Is it safe?
Thx for the responses CS and NY.
I agree. I think there is a definite connection between gut flora and heavy metal toxicity but am not sure which causes the other. They seem to cause each other if that makes sense. Healthy gut flora normally expels toxic metals and the build up of toxic metals tends to increase the pathogenic load. Seems kind of like a downward spiral once you lose your good gut flora.
Back to Humifulvate. Is there any risk of essential mineral depletion with it? Does it bind selectively to heavy metals or does it take out some of the good ones too (like zinc)?

Re: Humifulvate: Is it safe?
The opposite....Humifulvate adds bioavailable minerals (not necessarily all of them within the fulvic acid portion), but only the ones the body needs at that time by an attraction process. The humic acid portion helps remove the positively charged (toxins) particles.

Re: Humifulvate: Is it safe?
While on this topic CS.
Seems I misplaced my bottle of humifulvate (OP linked). Can I use The Immune Boost 77 product as a substitute at higher dosages for detox (4caps) or is it primarily an adjunct treatment?

Re: Humifulvate: Is it safe?
That's what I use...Immuneboost 77 I think is a better value.
