What shampoo do you use?
I've been using Dr Bonners peppermint soap. I've not really had any problems but my hair is somewhat frizzy, and I'm assuming this is because of the soap.

I also use Dr. Bronner's. Not really sure if there is a better one out there.

Do you use it on its own?

Yes, I do. Although, it makes my hair dry. I might stop shampooing altogether.

Re: What shampoo do you use?
I tried Dr.Bronner's Peppermint soap for a while, and though I loved the tingly feeling it gave my scalp, my hair didn't feel the best. It felt a bit dry and it felt like there was a filmy substance on my hair long after it had dried.
I've been using a shampoo called 'Andalou Naturals Age Defying Shampoo'. I really like this one. You can get it from iHerb. It leaves my hair looking and feeling great. I'm going to stick with this one for a while.

I tried using Dr. Bronner's as a shampoo one time, never again. It is very drying!
I've been playing around with fine-tuning shampoos I get from the natural stuffs store. See the thread, "Dale Alexander" where I mention making
a shampoo steeped with liquefied onions. Used ShiKai shampoo as the base (http://shikai.com/products/natural_hair_care.htm) It works well. Recently I read about the benefits of gelatin both taken internally and for external use including for the hair. I added a teaspoon of gelatin to the onion shampoo and after using it I had one of the best hair days of my life. It does indeed work to thicken hair!! I'm also going to try the intensive hair treatment mentioned on this page: http://wellnessmama.com/7419/12-uses-for-gelatin/

If I do plan to style my hair I just wash with dove beauty bar.. Good stuff. It does not dry out my hair and cleans it well.
