Curcumin/Reserv and EC

I know it is recommended that they are taken in tandem but are they achieving anything different other than antioxidant activity?

The short answer is a resounding "no."

The reason is that supplements such as Ecklonia cava, curcumin, resveratrol, is that they will have not just the contain the innate antioxidant activity, but also the gene switching that occurs via the Nrf2/ARE pathway, that can cause the termination of millions of free radicals per second.

In English, this means that the bodies own antioxidant enzymes are boosted which is the stuff that really creates profound changes. This is in contrast to the standard direct antioxidant approach.

CS, I believe you have covered this before but if you were to take one or the other you would go with the EC?

Hard to choose just one, because each type of phytochemical has its own inherent benefit.
For example, Res/Curcumin found in Antioxidant boost for example, helps with a whole variety
of inflammatory mediators. Ecklonia Cava also does. However, Res/curc helps especially with
neurogenic inflammation, but Ecklonia Cava will help in other ways...really depends on what
areas of are greater importance to the individual.
