Bio-Curcumin Empty Bio-Curcumin

Post  Lucky13 Fri Apr 23, 2010 4:08 pm

The bio curcumin which is suppose to be "A 400 mg capsule of this new Bio-Curcumin, is the functional equivilant of 2772mg of a 95% Curcumin extract.", I have read that this makes people shed? Does it make people shed because curcumin is a weak 5 alpha reductase inhibitor and this new bio curcumin would up the potentcy of the inhibition factor so it acts the same as finasteride? Which with finasteride most people get a shed once they start taking it. Just a thought. I just want to get the most out of curcumin somehow without any sides because I know it has so many great benefits and such a short half life in vivo.

I am glad you raise this question because I have been wondering the same myself. Who has decided that sheds from large doses of curcumin is a bad thing ?
And about sheds - I thought that it was commonly agreed upon being a good sign if inflammation/itchiness was reduced , but a bad sign if inflammation and itchiness was present ?

I have been taking the IH recommended Curcumin for 2 months now, and i can definitely say that i have noticed an increase in shedding! I am goin to stick with it for 3-4 months and see if it improves.

Yes, some do believe that a "shed" can be a good thing. However i still have the "itch" 2 - 3 times per day, this sensation can last for up to an hour.

So im worried...i guess.

coco - Curcumin (with resveratrol) usually stops the itch, so if it doesn't, there could be something else at hand.

Judging from previous discussions on bio-curcumin, it appeared to be at fault. Even in cancer patients, there were similar remarks in terms of benefits--there were questions raised b/c the regular curcumin worked better.

Also in studies, there is evidence suggesting that smaller amounts of curcumin maybe more beneficial (hormesis effect).

There is the option of using Meriva, which is a phospholipid encapsulation of curcumin--I've tried this and not certain whether it is better in terms of hair, but it is better in terms of pain management.

From what i've read, high doses of curcumin actually raise DHT.

It raises DHT? Can we

Ive been on curcumin/reservatrol for about 6-7 weeks now and Ive noticed an increase in hairloss. I see a lot of smaller hairs being shed. I used to have 5 hairs on the pillow, now I get around 20.

Im going to look at DHT blockers because im pretty concerned about the top 6 and zinc raising DHT levels through its effects on T. Im in my mid twenties so I imagine DHT is more of an issue with me.

My next step is to get on Iosol, Fo Ti,Magnesium and beta sitosterol, and see any change.

I'm going to start using Pregnenolone cream + a Green/Black tea extract to keep DHT lower.

Zinc doesn't raise 5-alpha reductase, it inhibits it.

Be careful with hormones like pregnenolone and progesterone, unless you really need them. You'll find out why, soon enough.

as long as used at recommended dosage they shouldn't cause any feminizing effects.
