I finally got my degree
Yes i finally got my biomedical science degree! insert congrats here!
a few things:
yes i am showing off because it was very hard, especially coming straight from full time work into it.
yes i still believe strongly in alternative medicines, i spent years researching alternatives before i started this degree, this just gives me a good foundation of physiology and laboratory techniques. I know people have strong feelings about conventional medicine here, but i believe in both. I believe the best treatment for a serious disease consists of both conventional and complementary treatments.
and NO i do not suddenly think i know more than others because i have this degree. some of the best minds ive ever seen on alternative medicines are right here on this forum.
having said that im happy to try and answer any questions if anyone ever has any for me, these are the subjects i did.
MOLECULAR AND CELLULAR REGULATION
MICROBIAL STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION
CLINICAL MICROBIOLOGY
HUMAN ANATOMY
BIOCHEMISTRY
MATHS & STAT MED SCI
PHYSICS 1H
CHEMISTRY 1
CELLULAR BASIS OF LIFE
CHEMISTRY 2
CELL AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY
INTRODUCTION TO CREATIVE WRITING
MEDICAL PHYSIOLOGY 1
INTRODUCTION TO HUMAN RIGHTS AND ETHICS
MOLECULAR BIOLOGY TECHNIQUES
MEDICAL PHYSIOLOGY 2
QUANTITATIVE MEDICAL SCIENCE
MEDICAL CELL BIOLOGY
CLINICAL MICROBIOLOGY 2
EPIDEMIOLOGY
MEDICAL BIOTECHNOLOGY
PHARMACOLOGY FOR HEALTH PROFESSIONALS
CLINICAL PHYSIOLOGY
GENETIC RESEARCH TECHNOLOGY
peace.

That's awesome Anxious! Congrats to you! I'm sure it was a lot of work, but well worth it. For anyone who's dedicated so much time to learning about health, medicine and nutrition etc. it's amazing to be able to pursue a profession in the field. Congrats again and good luck!

@Anxious1
Congrats! If you dont stop learning and changing paradigms which knowledge brings, i am sure you will do great!
Also glad this topic was brought up as i am interested about what's education of people on this boards...
I am diploma away from my master degree in fields of mechanical/mechatronical engineering. And you, people from the internet?
BTW: i dont put all the credit on education, but still respect people for the time/effort they've given in some field of science as well as for knowledge they got from it. And i also honestly think those titles (master, doctorate,) are many times overated, and used to discriminate the others based on the paper which many times tell nothing about what individual know about some subject.

Re: I finally got my degree
I got my degree in marketing and will begin working on a masters in market research and statistics. I know, a weird major for someone obsessed with this kind of stuff. I actually was one year away from a degree in human bio and did the majority of the core work for it, with only general ed requirements left. I had all the plans in the world of going to med school, but after my father passed and I came back from a break, my goals had changed entirely and I decided to go into business. After speaking with several doctors about their choices, I kind of realized it wasn't the lifestyle I wanted to live despite all of the rewards it can offer. But that is certainly a difficult path and I have respect for anyone who makes it through.
Beebrox, interesting field, good luck to you with your remaining course work.
Congrats again Anxious.

Anxious,
What an incredible achievement! I see with all of those biology and science courses you snuck in a creative writing course. Good for you. I expect to see some beautifully written scientific discourses!
Beebrox, my degree is in Journalism...

College Graduations are up there with weddings, child birth, and other big life events in my opinion.
Congratulations!! No one can ever take that knowledge away from you. Your hard work and perseverance will pay many dividends.
OT-Where does one go to an ortho-molecular type school? I tried googling but came up with nothing. (not the wapf school either)

Oregon, great football team. I went to Michigan State and it looks like these two are going to start a home-on-home deal for football starting in 2014. I don't like the sounds of it, haha. But this is completely off topic.

@ anxious
Well done mate
A worthwhile degree.
I know it aint easy getting a degree of any sort & especially a Science degree. it's also extra difficult when you were working previously. I'm 30 & nearly finished getting my Environmental Science honours degree & I worked for 10 years beforehand. Was too used to having lots of cash but that all changes when one becomes a student!
Congrats again
