Anti inflammatory diet - Tomatoes
Im trying to follow an anti inflammatory diet, all the books i have read say that Tomatoes are pro inflammatory. However, the studies i have read do not support this, they say lycopene is anti inflammatory and tomatoes also inhibit cox 2 which again lowers inflammation!
I have not stopped eating them yet...... any input from others?

Re: Anti inflammatory diet - Tomatoes
I don't care whether they are inflammatory or not. They are too damn good to drop from the diet.
I think they stimulate histamine release.
When I used to eat them when younger my face would get warm and my ears would get red. It's gradually diminished over the years.

Re: Anti inflammatory diet - Tomatoes
Tomatoes used to be a staple in my diet. I've dropped them along with other nightshade veggies after reading this article:
http://samadhispaandwellness.blogspot.com/2009/10/why-you-should-eliminate-night\
shades.html
OK, link doesn't go to the article. Type "nightshades" into the search on that page and it will take you there.
Now I know why arthritics are told to eliminate nightshades. I was having the beginnings of arthritic symptoms and other issues, myself. Better now.
