Infrared Saunas
Anyone have one of these?
They seem quite cheap and I've heard they are helpful in improving overall health, sweating out toxins.
Interested to hear your experience on them.

Re: Infrared Saunas
sweating out toxins.
I looked into them two years ago and never found any good evidence for this, just a string of circular references.
Saunas were used to mobilize fat soluble toxins in a few different studies, but the effect may as well have been due to the exercise/diet/supplement regimen the participants were following.
And even if saunas can accelerate toxin elimination in people with high levels, that doesn't mean it will work for people like us, with "normal" background levels and continuous daily exposure.
Maybe there has been more research since then, I don't know.

Is there any evidence that sweat contains 'toxins', and, if so, which ones?

Re: Infrared Saunas
2 things... 1) I was just reading up about sodium crystals forming from sweating. Apparently it's more of an issue for those with Cystic Fibrosis, but I run into the issue sometimes. Or at least what I believe is the same. Seems like little grains of salt that end up on my skin, mostly on my scalp. So with high salt intake this seems to increase and mess with the normal flow of sebum causing dandruff, sebum plugs and sodium crystal plugs all mixed together. I'm going to be bringing my sodium intake down and seeing what happens from there 2) i just bought a small infrared sauna http://www.sears.com/precision-therapy-portable-far-infrared-sauna-with-wooden/p-SPM5776642001P?prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2 similar to this one. I'll see how things go and report back. That being said, sweating has been a tremendous way of detoxing for me in the past, but i no longer have access to a regular sauna so haven;t been able to. Also, I've read (think from JDP) sweating is the only way to eliminate certain toxins (nickel maybe?)
