Opinions on dietary lactic acid? Empty Opinions on dietary lactic acid?

Post  Hoppipolla Sat Apr 21, 2012 6:10 am

I heard that Ray Peat opposes things like yogurt on the grounds that lactic acid is bad for you... I forget exactly why... a metabolic burden?

What are your opinions on this?

Tis a shame as I have some mild difficulty digesting lactose but no difficulty at all with yogurt (presumably because of the lower quantity of lactose it contains).

Love to hear some views!

Peace!

I believe Peat said that lactic acid depletes glycogen in the liver due to the liver having to turn it into glucose and gave the example of a cup of yogurt using all stored glycogen. He also said that it negatively affects Carbon Dioxide in the body. Which was a bummer to read with his recommended diet consisting of plenty of dairy. I have been drinking 40oz of raw milk kefir a day for over a year and haven't noticed anything negative though I'm not sure what to look for concerning those two warnings.
