Liver spots
Hi CS + groupies
I've always had a few liver spots, so to speak. But they have increased during the life and now I definitely have more then I like. For example, I look at my left arm, from elbow to fingers I have 15 liver spots + one red spot This is too much, I also have these fields of many small tiny belts with brown fragmentation here and there..the situation is however not life threatening, but I would want to try what I can in order to minimize the future creation of these spots and also, i possible, remove some, with or without the knife.
Please give me your best advices.

Re: Liver spots
I'd recommend to look into taking some Vitamin C. While it may do little in minimizing the appearance of age spots it "may" help prevent new ones.

Re: Liver spots
Misirlou - Vitamin E and Lipoic acid. Over a decade ago I met an old man who had no age spots. He was 76 at the time and he credited it to having taken large amounts of Vitamin E for decades.
Re: Liver spots
CS,
I've heard these can also be reversed if one already has them by regenerating the liver and probably other methods...has that been you're experience? I do not deal with this issue but my brother has them so I might give him some tips.

Re: Liver spots
isaac - According to Dr. Perricone, who is the author of several books on skin aging, Astaxanthin helps reduce hyperpigmentation, "doctorese" for age spots.
Krill oil is loaded with Astaxanthin so that is going to help.
I've always considered Lipoic Acid an absolute must for liver detoxification and it seriously augments any form of antioxidant therapy.
Taken all these together is probably the best defense against age spots.

Re: Liver spots
Misirlou - Yes, they are the same.
They are believed to be lipofuscin desposits. This is the same brown "gunk" that
causes Alzheimer's and other forms of aging. Antioxidants, particulary lipoic acid
are a major defense against these.
Before I started downing all these pills I used to get mysterious red or other spots,
but none since then. I get no more of these
