Vit-d3 60-90 nL vitamin
How does the 60-90 nL range in serum translate into daily IU supplementation, or is
that widely individual?
In other words, during winter here in the dark north, should we opt for the 5,000 IU
over the 2,400?

I guess it all boils down to what your current (pre-supplement) blood level of 25 OH D is..in some cases more then 5,000 IU must be used in order to obtain optimal serum concentration. For an adult, I would aim for 5,000 IU a day, at least! Another question is what kind of product to use. Spray, sublingual, patch or cap.
I use the brand recommended by CS and I also mix in healthy fat during the absorption process

And of course a "safe" tanning bed could be used too (UVB)

Re: Vit-d3 60-90 nL vitamin
I was anti-tanning bed for years and after quite a bit of research decided to buy one of Mercola's "safe" tanning systems last winter. Very happy with the investment so far. I only use it in the colder months for a few minutes every couple of days. There's no more bioavailable form of Vitamin D than the type produced by your own body and I've noticed elevated mood and energy levels. As long as the electronics are set up properly I don't see this being harmful to the body. If anything the increased D production and red wavelength light on my system may actually stimulate increased collagen formation and slow down the aging process.

Misirlou - I agree, 5,000 IU is very safe. According to recent study, most people need about 10,000 IU to achieve a decent level, and still others may need more, others less.

Note: I meant to send this earlier, so I realize the question was already answered.

Perhaps we should throw in some info about these home-tests measuring serum concentration of vitamin D? Because I believe that before you start up with anything you should tests your levels first, if possible.
turbojet - Yes, I believe that the dangers of tanning beds are minimal if used only for a few minutes a few times/week and without getting any UVA, the negative thing is that you don't get tanned though

Re: Vit-d3 60-90 nL vitamin
just started doing some days 5000IU(some 1000) D3 since I'm hardly getting any sun and feel kinda tired and kinda weird, but it seems to have a slightly positive effect on my skin is this tired feeling detoxification or will this go away eventually?

It takes a while for the levels to build up, and the detox effect will go away.

When vitamin D levels are eventually optimized (this takes time), glutathione levels will be increased. This endogenous antioxidant is essential for detoxification, so just about everything that the body can detox will be enhanced.
It isn't the only factor in detoxification, but it is an important step.
