IH, would you pass this post on to Sekar at Regrowth, in the thread entitled, "has anyone used toco-8 for more then 5 months?" I am unable to post there because of a written confrontation with one of the (laser) powers at be. Side note: That place has changed so much since you left; it's ridiculous. I think even Jacob has gotten lonely without you there. Anyways, Sekar asked me the following questions:

1. Natural, have you tried Cur+Res combo alone and had some shedding ?

Sekar, I have never had any shedding while on the cur+res regimen. And I am not sure whether "shedding" is a good thing or not. I always felt that it, shedding, was a sign for me to change things around (i.e. add or drop something).

2. Natural, yours is diffuse thinning ?"
My thinning began in the temple area, and then moved to the crown area. It was quite noticeable in early January of last year.

But, as I have stated here before, this internal combination of curcumin and resveratrol works better than any dandruff shampoo that I have ever used. It stopped my hair loss, and after sixth months, provided some good regrowth (which continues to this day).

Immortal Hair Empty Curcumin

IH/CS, what are your thoughts on Curcumin? I notice it is not part of your regime. A site you are probably familiar with ( http://www.hairloss-research.org/) post some interesting research on it.
Cheers

The Natural - What products are you using for Curcumin and Reservatol and where do you get them? Also, what dosage/day?

I would like to know this as well.

I use the following curcumin (3x/day) and resveratrol (2-3x/day) along with the IH regiment.

Curcumin: http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=-1583820052214221243&at=0

Resveratrol: http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=7593&at=0

I'm not sure what it's done for me in terms of hairloss, but it has definitely helped with my light hidradenitis suppurativa.

Nuada - It should be perfectly fine to take both.

The people at New Chapter have always considered Turmeric/Curcumin to be the worlds most important herb. Studies on Curcumin show that even a small amount can work wonders when taking over a period of time. Only high doses are needed for the short term. Curcumin inhibits 5-Lipoxygenase, TGF-beta, whereas Ecklonia Cava inhibits 5-Lipoxygenase and Gelatinase & Collagenase enzymes, but they both do much more.

I apologize if you talked about this before but for a Iodine test should get one of the tests that some companies have or is there a test like the candida spit test.

chapat - There is an iodine loading test, which involves taking 4 Iodoral tablets (50 milligrams of iodine) and checking iodine saturation levels. However, anywhere from 70 to 90% of us are deficient in iodine, so instead of taking the test it's probably worth supplementing iodine anyway and see if within a few months you have some problems suddenly clear up.

There is also a crude test, which involves placing iodine on an area of your skin and if the stain disappears before 18-hours then you probably have a deficiency.

IH, I ordered a couple bottles of the 5% iodine from the website you have linked to on immortalhair.org and I haven't got them yet, I ordered them on dec 11th. Are you sure the link you have there is to be trusted?

chapat - If you want to start slow and try just a few milligrams per day you can. Also you can start high too, especially if you think there is any problem--it can take several months to replenish the entire body. 12.5 milligrams per day which is two drops of Lugol's is the usual dose.

johnt & sgtiger,

I am now taking the following supplements. One of each. Once a day, at the same time. But during the first couple of months on this regimen, I think I took two of each daily(morning and evening):

1. curcumin: http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=106&at=0
2. resveratrol: http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=352&at=0
3. tocotrienols: http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=137&at=0

But you might be able to get away with twice that much, if your stomach can tolerate it. Too much curcumin upsets my stomach, and gives me gas. That's why I take only one capsule at a time (however, the "suggested use" is between 1-5 capsules daily).

Can I use your basic Iodine for the skin test or is there a special one to use? One web site said to use Brown Tincture of Iodine?

Natural - that is an exceedingly simple regimen.

How did you narrow it down that much?

Do you not see any benefits from the IH top 6?

Scotty,

I like to research what combinations of herbs have been effective for others (in personal posts, clinical studies), and then try only those herbs, and assess their effectiveness over a period of time. After which, I usually find that I don't need to take as many herbs as I had once thought. My present regimen has worked well for me, so I see no need to change much: It stopped my hair loss, and after sixth months, provided some good regrowth (which continues to this day).

Many have had success with just IH's top three. And I do take green tea extract several times a week as well.

Hey Natural - isn't 16mg of reseveratrol kind of on the low side?

What does the combination of curcumin/resveratrol do to you in terms of hair growth? If i were to use it, can i get rid of anything in the top 6? Thanks

Curcumin is potent against Beta-Estradiol, and inhibits inflammation from TGF-beta, it also lowers blood sugar.

Curcumin, EGCG (Green tea extract), and Resveratrol modulate angiogenesis, which regulates hair growth.

Resveratrol mostly likely helps in the area of protection from reactive oxygen species (ROS).

If you wanted to subtract something from the top 6 and use one of these others, then perhaps 7-HMR and Acetyl L-Carnitine. If you find your stress level increase, go back on the ALC.
