Turmeric/Curcumin (+resveratrol) and bowel movements Empty Turmeric/Curcumin (+resveratrol) and bowel movements

Well I have been wanting to ask this for a while. I have been taking resveratrol for about 9 months now, various types mostly the IH regimin NOW foods, not sure if any of them have emodin, does the IH regimen NOW?

So over the course of the last 6 months I have tried Jarrows Curcumin 95, two other brands with similar specs, and a Turmeric. I have tried a certain brand for weeks at a time, to cycle different ones daily, always taken at the same time, dinner. What I cannot figure out is why I sometimes get the urge to move the bowels 1-2hrs after eating (feeling of diarrhea but mostly solid then it all passes), other times I get loads of gas and it just passes, or sometimes nothing at all. However the following day in atleast 50% of the time, I have gas, usually just mid morning, then afternoon is a good bowel movement, to me it feels like a cleansing/flushing of the body type, never lose but a solid type.

Can anyone help me out, what is the bowels telling me?

sc871 - Unless the Trans-Resveratrol is mostly pure, it probably contains enough emodin to cause this. Most brands are 50% Trans-Resveratrol, such as Now Brand. Ortho Nutritrion Antioxidant boost contains a type of trans-resveratrol that is mostly pure.

Well does this only happen when taking Res/curcumin together? Meaning I took Resveratrol by it self for about 3months with not issues, started curcumin 3months later..

How do I know if one is "pure"?

So I have another issue/question that just dawned on me. I purchased the Ortho antioxidant boost, and I have been using it close to a week now, I am taking at dinner as always. Everything is about the same in the evening with the feeling and with the bowels, maybe only one night with a little gas. However the bowel movements the after day is real solid like passing rocks, on the store bought Curcumin 95 it was solid but easily passed.

Which leads to the next thing. I think I maybe have little bouts of heartburn, this is recent, maybe two weeks. Although Last Thursday since using Ortho I notice some increase heartburn/palpitations the next morning, this continued on thru the weekend and still occuring, heartburn that is. Late last week and thru the weekend I also had rapid heart beat and higher blood pressure, mainly in the morning.

I saw the DR on Wednesday and she said all my symptoms lead to heartburn/acid reflux, told me to take Prilosec for two weeks. So this morning (plus all day yesterday) the heart issues were gone for the most, first day in a week I woke up without HPB or rapid heart rate, but my stomach still is in pain, Prilosec says it can take 1-4 days to take effect, but right tonight is worse than last nite. Could "pure" Trans-Resveratrol be causing this? Tomorrow I am either going to: A take no Antioxidant boost, or take 1 capsule. The only other addition that could be the culprit is Sulforaphane, I have never taken that before.

sc871 - Prilosec is dangerous, wouldn't touch it, at least not for very long.

Do you take any magnesium or vitamin C? If not, would consider adding those.

I do not plan on taking Prilosec for anymore than she prescribed, 14 days. However I decided to skip on it tonight just see how things are.

However today I went to the chiropractor and had him check me for a hiatal hernia, he really did not feel I had one, but thru his checking thought my issue my be not digesting proteins well, made some adjustments which I felt tons better after. He told me to take an enzyme pill Chirozyme http://www.enzymeformulations.com/store/detail.asp?class=chiro-zyme&ID=11 I looked at it told him I was taking two of the supplments already (turmeric/taurine) and I had a Source Naturals Enzyme, so I ended up passing on what he had and popped one of my before dinner. Still to early to tell, but I think the adjustment and enzyme is good.

I take Magnesium via Ortho Decalify, although I am worried that taking 3x a day is too much for me. I was taking a standalone Mag or Mag/Potassium from your regimen atleast once a day. I take Vitamin C (pureway-c) 2x a day 500mg and now that I am back on Humfulvate I take 500mg more with it.

One thing I forgot to mention before about a week before all these symptoms I was taking Betaine HCL, seeing as in reading that I maybe low in hydro-chorlic acid and why my face is always red/flushing, it may have helped some in the short term, but maybe got sides from it. Once this all started last week I dropped it, and now thinking maybe a digestive enzyme would be better, but not sure if that would help my facial flushing/redness.
