How to apply virgin cocnut oil to hair

Hey everyone I recently got my extra virgin coconut oil and was wondering if I should apply it before I shampoo or after. And how long should I let it sit in my hair for? Any help or tips? thanks!

Depends on what you want to use it for....
You can use it before showering or mix it with your shampoo, this way you don't have oily hair but more moisture. If you use it after showering, you can use a little to style your hair. If you want to fight bacteria or heal your skin you might use it as a topical for 20minuter-several hours/over night........

Personal thoughts- leaving overnight is maybe too hyped for any hair oil, but particularly cocnut oil as it is comedogenic. If you wish to leave in for a longer duration 2-3 hours should be enough. Even an hour, half an hour before shampooing is a good strategy. In the shower use smaller quantity of shampoo, so that it does not wash all the oil away. This works the same way as mixing the oil in the shampoo.

I used Coconut Oil for a while at night on my scalp, I used to take about half a tablespoon and put it in a glass, then throw it in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Probably not the best idea, you can heat it up by any means. Then I just lathered it onto my head and it dried in fairly quick. It was great for the texture of my hair, but it's very hard to keep it up, it's messy and awkward. Same goes for ACV at night.
