skin lightening (dark spots)- Hydroquinone= health problems? Empty skin lightening (dark spots)- Hydroquinone= health problems?

I have one very small slightly dark spot left over from a scar near my eye. I was thinking about using a tiny bit of hydroquinone on it. I turned up this info though which is pretty alarming:

"...hydroquinone, which a variety of studies have linked to:

* Increased risk of cancer
* Increased risk of adrenal gland problems
* Increased risk of all health conditions associated with mercury poisoning
* Increased risk of developing a rare metabolic disorder called ochronosis, which can cause physical changes to the skin and tissues surrounding the eyes, ears, and joints"

Has anyone used this stuff? I'm wondering if a tiny drop size amount would be that bad, and if it would permanently lighten that spot.
