Sesame oil -- good or bad?
I heard this oil has a powerful bloodpressure lowering capability.

cpio - This is probably the "healthiest" of the high Omega-6 seed oils that are used for cooking. It has a relatively high smoke point and is loaded with antioxidants. I can increase NO, Glut, SOD, Cat, and contains lignans and phytosterols.
It's probably healthier when used cold instead of heated. But a study on its antihyperintesive effect was good.

IH, too much Omega-6 is not good (except GLA), but you said in a different thread that
some saturated oils are not inherently unhealthy (like coconut), but this is not the same thing as
Omega-6?

cpio - Omega-6 fatty acids are super unsaturated fatty acids, or known as polyunsaturated oils. This is vastly different from saturated fat, such as coconut oil.
Saturated fat from meat and saturated fat from coconut oil are healthy (despite what is mentioned in the media).
Omega-6 is of course over whelming in our diets, but some is necessary since it is essential, meaning the body cannot manufacture it on its own.

There are 2 kinds of sesame oil:
Light sesame oil has a high smoke point, and is suitable for frying, while heavy (dark) sesame oil (from roasted sesame seeds) has a low smoke point, and is unsuitable for frying, instead being used sparingly for seasoning, particularly in East Asian cuisine.
