Kre-Alkalyn Creatine

Has anyone on this board tried kre-alkalyn creatine. A couple of guys at my gym take this stuff and like it better then creatine monohydrate. Below is a link with some information on this product.

I took it for a while but haven't tried other creatine products. I have an unopend box lying around and would like to get rid of it.......live in europe so shipping costs might be higher than the price for the actual product.

Actually, in most cases, kre-alkalyn (KA) is just creatine monohydrate (CM) with some added soda ash. Principally other forms of creatine are permitted by the patent (e.g. cratine citrate), as well as alkali metals, but for the sake of money (aka higher margins), producers will go with the cheapest sources available, which is CM and soda ash of course.
The reported effect of being more gentle on the stomach may stem from the fact that the recommended dosage just delivers less CM than if CM by itself is taken, because people will tend to take somewhat high amounts of (pure) CM because it is so cheap.
OTOH the sodium also helps with the uptake of creatine, but the typical amounts are possibly too small.
IMO it is highly likely that it is just placebo effect that makes some people prefer KA over CM, with respect to efficiency.
