How to gain weight when on sugar-free diet?
Hi guys
I am trying to gain weight, since I am pretty skinny. I no longer eat refined sugars (i.e. no chocolate, candy etc.) nor dairy. A lot of beans, potatoes, meat and such. But are there any "power"-foods that I can eat that would help me gain some weight?
Best,
Lambaugh.

You dont need sugar to gain weight.. who told you that ? Lift weight and eat healthy and complex, and you will gain weight healthy and naturally just like your body is designed to do.. Wolff's law.

Agree with the above. Also, I'd add "patience" to that list. I'm 6'2". I played varsity sports in high school but didn't get really into weight lifting, so heading into college I was about 145 lbs. Five years later of eating more and lifting weights 3-5 days a week, I'm about 170-175. Your results will probably vary though.
I was somewhat inconsistent with my eating and lifting during those 5 years, so my slow results were probably due to that. It takes a lot of money (cost of food) and time (spent in the weight room/playing sports) to gain weight, and I didn't always have both.
Last important note: if you start lifting and exercising more often, be sure to match it with more food, in particular protein. I (and other people) find that if I lift a lot and don't eat enough protein, I don't make much progress.

Natural sugars in foods are part of a complex carbohydrate package that provides fuel and energy for your body. Eating natural-occurring sugars in fruits, vegetables, and grains is a healthier way to get your sweets.

I second empty.
At 6'2", I graduated high school at about 147 lbs, at 22 I'm now 175ish. Been lifting hard the last few years. Whey protein definitely helped me put on that weight, but I also think it accelerated hair loss in my case. Im sure you could do without it, just make sure your getting enough protein from other sources.
As far as carbs, I'm still experimenting to see what is the ideal amount. Yams, sweet potatoes, etc. are supposed to be good, low GI carbs if youre off the refined grains. Also dont forget the brown rice.
