As I had mentioned in my very first thread I was an avid user of minoxidil for almost 10 years. I have already cut my use of minoxidil from twice a day to once a day. ( rather than stopping it abruptly ). From next month I shall be completely discontinuing it for good. Minoxidil used to add a lil volume to my hair. My hair is naturally on the wayy side.

Any recommendations for hair product ( mousse, cream, gel etc ) which would add some volume to my hair without causing any damage??. ( like a styling gel )??

I use 99% aloe vera gel every morning on my face and hair. Seems to work ok for me.

What kind of shampoo do you use? Shampoos such as nizoral I believe and avalon organics shampoos have had many positive reviews, help with thickening and adding volume to hair. Nizoral contains sls and avalon I think, contains a variant of sls which is less harsh than sls.

The shampoo CS recommends (without lithium and dmso) I noticed my hair seemed thicker and less greasy.

Be careful man, I don't know what kind of shed it's possible to get when you stop minox but yes do it very gradually.. I can't claim to know for sure but keep a close eye! Smile

And hm I don't really know what will add body to hair, sorry that isn't really my area of knowledge ^^

Thanx Scotty.

Tooyoung, I have been using this herbal soap called Shikakai. Once or twice a week I use Nizoral 1%. I shall be incorporating CS recommended shampoo with lithium and Dmso from next month.

Hoppipolla, I was quite aware of that hence I decided to do it slowly and gradually. So far so good.

After washing my hair, I leave my hair a lil damp and massage it with coconut oil and leave it for a while. It gives a nice texture to my hair, my wavy hair looks wavier plus hair remains soft and smooth unlike some gels which can mess your hair up. Besides, topical coconut oil is beneficial too.
