Maximum dental health
I recently read that fluoride in water could actually be bad for the mouth (and bad for a lot of other stuff in the body as well), not sure if this is true though. What I want to know is how to increase the general dental health in order to avoid painful and expensive treatments at the dentists.
Please help me out.

Re: Maximum dental health
Misirlou - Fluoride has been shown not to have any real benefit with respect to tooth decay. Countries who do not use fluoride have teeth in no worse shape and even marginally better than fluoride supplied countries. Fluoride is serious neurotoxin and has no place in the dental industry.
Originally, it was proposed to sell the dentists on this idea, and if accepted would catapult its popularity, as it was once only a waste product of aluminum. Incidentally, fluoride increases the uptake of aluminum in the body, particularity the brain. It also reduces iodine levels in the body have is partially responsible for cases of low thyroid.

Aouch. I've been drinking fluoride water for my entire life, however, the amount of F is not above recommended guidelines. Could I still be "poisoned" ?
Dental floss seems really good. Any other options in order to NOT have to go to the dentist?

Re: Maximum dental health
ganny - I have used fluoride free toothpastes, especially ones with Xylitol, like Xyliwhite.
Then I switched to bar soap. Honestly, I prefer the Xylitol toothpastes for flavor, but the soap contains no glycerin, which is what coats the teeth and prevents them from being totally clean. I rinse my toothbrush in hydrogen peroxide quite often also. The reason is that it prevents the recirculation of bad bacteria in the mouth.

Re: Maximum dental health
What about just cutting out the middleman so-to-speak and just using a peroxide rinse followed by brushing with peroxide, and then a final peroxide rinse? Or would this not get your teeth as clean as the paste you recommend?

Re: Maximum dental health
Interestingly on my last visit the dentist recommended to use peroxide rinsing/brushing as well (not every day) but once a week to kill the germs in there good.
What concentration of peroxide would be recommended for brushing with?
I hope folks are using Food grade peroxide and not the ohterwise commonly available type.

Re: Maximum dental health
lund - Ill give you my take on your question. Ive just been using the stuff in the brown bottle stuff from Walmart - it says on the bottle it can be used as debriding agent (in this case breaking up plaque and whatnot) and for use as a rinse. I think its a little over a dollar a bottle. Oh and by the it has it "Do not swallow" (obviously - you dont want to swallow the stuff) written on it. This has worked fine for me - no cavities since Ive been using it. I use it btw as a rinse, and then brush directly afterwards and then rinse again(as well as cleaning my brush with it) at least once a day. I dont know if thats what IH would advise but thats what Ive been doing, hope that helps.

And if you want to make yourself throw up for whatever reason, then by all means, swig some of that peroxide!

CS--Are there any truth to Vitamin C getting rid of Fluoride in our system? If not, is there any way to get rid of it using supplements? Thanks

CS,
How do you feel about this product?
http://www.perfect-prescription.com/product_detail.php?cid=1&pid=14
Seems a little pricey, but the jar seems like it will last awhile.
BTW, how important is flossing if you're using bar soap and peroxide rinses? I'm assuming you still need to do it?

Re: Maximum dental health
Sorry, forgot to ask...anyone here use the VIO Ultra-Violet light to clean your tooth brush? I typically use it in tandem with soaking the toothbrush in hydrogen peroxide, but haven't bought the latter lately. Will it kill enough germs on its own?
