I notice that I am getting tanner from taking D3. why is that?
And does a laser helmet increase vit D in the body?

Re: questions about vit D
1..... Vitamin D increases hemoglobin levels, so what you're probably seeing is a richer blood/oxygen concentration in your skin. This of course is good for hair.

Re: questions about vit D
Is the absence of the tanning effect an indication ?
I've been on 6000IU D3 since last october ,occasionally I even take 10,000 IU ,my complexion and body skin tone is still white as it's always been ,haven't gotten any darker.
My HGB ,RBC ,HTC, MCV(Mean Corpuscular Volume) readings are all within the normal range according to my latest blood work.
Caustic, you've also seen an improvement in that aspect even though you are naturally pale (as I am ) what if one doesn't get the tanning effect ?
In summer time I get quite tanned (slowly but I do) ,is this an indication I should increase over 6000 IU my intake?

Re: questions about vit D
edony - Do you take any iodine?
Yes, I'd also had the benefit of improved "color" on my skin, which used to be pale.

Re: questions about vit D
Yeah, (see the "iodine shed" thread ).
I started Iosol last june ,quit for 2 months as shedding appeared and restarted in september until a few days ago ,a daily Iosol dose of 12.5 mg.(I dropped iodine again to check if shedding subsides)
But what does iodine have to do w vit D and skin tone?

Re: questions about vit D
edony,
I'm of the opinion that the Iodine shed is due to heavy metals, halogens, etc. being stirred up. Actually, I'm convinced.

Makes a lot of sense, edony have you tried any metal chelators?

Re: questions about vit D
Thanks both for your answers.Caustic,i really hope we can figure out what's wrong with me.
No,I haven't tried any "real" chelators yet .I'm trying to decide what's the aproppriate one for my case as I have no fillings, implants, tooth work done or metal burden whatsoever.
But could even a low dose of 5-12.5 mg of iodine stirr-up halogens/metals and cause a heavy shed ?

Re: questions about vit D
edony - I had an uncomfortable shed during my initial iodine use, but things seemed to improve when I also used the metal chelators.
It's is surprisingly easy to acquire metals without any hint of dental work. Many of us have plenty of mercury and lead, without a single dental visit.

Re: questions about vit D
selenium should always be used with iodine. I would recommend humifulvate (or MCP), depending on what the burden is.

Re: questions about vit D
So, start with selenium and iodine and use humifulvate if problems arise?

Re: questions about vit D
tooyoung - I suppose you could look at it that way. Taking humifulvate could make a difference for some.

I assume you started off with a low iodine dose as well right?
What was the chelator you used back then?
In the "iodine shed" thread you advised me to up my iodine intake to 50mg/daily .Do you still think that is essential ?
Should I increase iodine along w a chelator of some form?

What kind of difference? As I haven't had medical work for 10+ years do you think I won't need humifulvate?

Re: questions about vit D
tooyoung - Wouldn't know unless you took a heavy metal test. Although if you've drank tap water a lot in the last 10 plus years, there's a reasonable chance that you've got some metals lurking around.

Do you recommend purchasing a water filter as well as the test?

some weeks ago I had a scary experience. In the evening, in the matter of minutes I got a terrible fever, headache, muscle and joint aches. It all went away over the night, in the matter of 12 hours. Could this be the helxheimer reaction I have experienced from iodine usage ? I have only had a fever once in my life before..
