hypothyroidism: A friend in need
This is another thread about thyroid disorder. A friend of mine (male, 50 years of age) has the following symptoms:
Swollen shanks
Feeling cold very easily (he was very resistant to cold weather before)
asexual
Red, dry, burning, ichy eyes
Difficulties to urinate
Dry skin
Tenderness in foot soles
Feeling powerless and milky
Dry hair, hair loss (but the hair growth on the body remains strong)
Sour stomach
An increased need of sleep
He has been taken Levothyroxine for some time (years) and if I'm correct notified, testosterone by injection.
The situation is getting worse and I now turn to you guys in order to get some firm advices. On the positive side is the fact that he himself has realized that he needs to search for answers outside the traditional hospital treatments. We also suspect he has some hypothalamus problems.
So please, what can he do? Who should he get in touch with? We are prepared to do what it takes.

Re: hypothyroidism: A friend in need
Misirlou - Have him switch to Armour thyroid instead of Levothyroxine. Have him take Lugol's solution and selenium.
Have him consider going off of wheat products. Check his mouth, make sure there's no mercury fillings and/or root canals.
Also have him do a urine test for heavy metals to assess heavy metal levels.

Re: hypothyroidism: A friend in need
Thank you very much for this information.
What would the daily dose be for Lugos, selenium and Armour Thyroid?
Where are these products purchased from (best sources)?
Do you know of any method to increase the amount of signals produced and sent from the pituitary gland to the recipient tissues (testicles etc) in the body? Apparently this function is reduced as well

Re: hypothyroidism: A friend in need
Misirlou - Start him on two drops of 5% Lugol's and possibly increase over time. Armour Thyroid can be tried in manner that closely resembles the dosage of Levothyroxine. Some trial and error maybe necessary on the number of grains needed.
Armour is found via a prescription, if not possible, then there is dessicated thyroid. I have sources of these products on my site if having no luck.

Re: hypothyroidism: A friend in need
From what we understand thyroid meds may not work for 2 reasons:
1. Adrenals are not well supported (saliva test and symptoms could give you clues for this)
2. Reverse T3 syndrome (Thyroid panel serum testing would give you clues there)
3. Suboptimal Ferritin and B12 levels (Serum test to confirm)
Research around these areas as well...

Re: hypothyroidism: A friend in need
Also if he is taking T injections - hopefully he is under the care of a good doctor who understands the issues well. Balancing these hormones exoegenously is almost impossible (in my view) there is always something that gets out of whack and unless you know exactly and are monitoring like a hawk - so will miss something and fee shitty.
Reach out to body building web sites - these tinker with "T" all the time - you should read up there to understand the real issues, testing procedures, supported supps and general guidelines in the use...
