A question about age -
Is there a certain age where us MPB sufferers can relax about the possibility of going cue ball?
I'm 34.5 years old. I have definite thinning and receding above the temples, but none at the back of my head. Also, the soldiers over my forehead are holding strong.
So at what age will I be able to breathe a sigh of relief that I will have hair until I'm *really old*?
Is there a certain age where if you haven't lost it yet, you won't?

Honestly man, you don't know what you've got. I would literally do anything to keep my hair for another year. I'm only 20. I can't handle this, it's completely different for the younger guys, we lose it a lot faster with strong inflammation. Honestly, another 2 months and it's gone. I just can't see myself without hair. I don't know what I'll do.
Breath a sigh of relief now, you've been able to live this long with hair. You are extremely lucky.

idk man i guess its different for everyone. i first noticed miniaturiztion at 22 in my temples, now in my late twenties and the front 1/4 inch or so of my hairline has thinned out bad. i guess my hairloss has been kinda slow compared to others. Be healthy, be happy and if it falls out, screw it.

I'm not certain there is such an age -- I've seen guys who have had full heads of hair until their fifties and sixties that lose after that.
I do have a somewhat related question though for CS -- Do you think there is a point in time (obviously it varies with everyone) where they no longer have to worry about androgen-related hair loss? In other words, take a guy who starts to lose his hair at 22 yo due to DHT, and say that guy gets on propecia and stops the hair loss, even grows much of what he lost back... is there an age or point, in your knowledgeable opinion, where he is pretty much beyond having to worry about DHT related hair loss ? This would be due to lower amounts of DHT, etc.

I agree with the group. There is no way to know when, or if your hair loss will stop. It will more then likely shed in cycles. I have been gradually thinning for over a decade now and managed to maintain a full thick head of hair until just two years ago. My loss accelerated greatly in the past 12 months. I am now 46 and still have full coverage, but most of the hair is now weak and thin. My feeling is that anyone unlucky enough to suffer hair loss will gradually lose it.
