I believe that the quality of the water we every day drink, cook and shower in, is very important.

What do you people think of this content?

pH balance: 8.3 (at 77F)
Alkalinity: 490 mg/liter
Calcium: 6.8 mg/liter
Iron 0.14 mg/liter
Sodium: 5.4 mg/liter
Potassium: 8.0 mg/liter
Magnesium: 5.4 mg/liter
Manganese: 0.03 mg/liter
Fluoride: 1.6 mg/liter (!)
Chloride: 160 mg/liter (?)

Those are the key values. I'm mainly skeptical towards the concentrations of fluoride and chloride.

What values should I try to minimize/erase from my drinking water?

I appreciate all the help I can get.

I don't think fluoride is good in any amount, but it's worth checking if the flouride is natural or sodium fluoride. The only thing you can do is buy a reverse osmosis water filter, and shower filter, or buy bottled water.

In my case it's natural occurring fluoride.

Yes, I will probably install a filter. Do you have any prices for those osmosis filters? I heard it costs about $1000 to install it to the kitchen tap.

How did you get those numbers Misirlou. Did you pull off your water district's website or did you have your water tested.

And what do you mean 'skeptical'?

The RO systems Ive seen are in the range of $200-300. But they don't have any reviews to go by. Here's an example: http://www.freedrinkingwater.com/

zerx I've had my drinking water tested by a laboratory.

By skeptical I mean that I don't like that I have fluoride and chloride at those high concentrations in my water, but perhaps I have nothing to worry about, thats why I ask.

$300 is a great price.

Check out eBay too. They have do it yourself systems for about $150. They go under your sink and produce about 75 gallons per day. Haven't pulled the trigger on one myself but plan on it in the near future. Right now I keep moving too often to install one.

I only drink RO if I can help it. I refill a 5 gallon canister at Whole Foods down the street and use that as my drinking and cooking water throughout the week. Definitely stay away from chloride and fluoride in your water if you can.

Yeah I plan to buy one soon as well as I drink a lot of tap water, and I really don't want fluoride in my body at the levels that it is no doubt present. No wonder the rich and famous buy expensive bottled water!!!

In many cases those bottled waters contain many toxic molecules. I believe there was a study on Fiji water and it showed all kinds of trace chemicals. Not to mention the burden all those plastic bottles place on the ecosystem. Best to get your own system or get a reusable container and find a fill up spot.

Would products as cellfoodusa.com be good to add to the water? Seems so easy to really tune up the drinking water.
