chipdouglas - Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is a zinc and magnesium containing enzyme. So most likely yes and I can tell you that low ALP can contribute to hair loss.

I've just checked before posting, and all three times alk phosphatase was done it came in in the very minimum of normal. The first two times it was tested it read 52--52 being the lowest digit on it's range. Then the last time it went up by two points--not much for sure.

I'll have to look for other causes of low ALP--off the top of my head, I'm thinking anemia, low cortisol.
