Microneedling - Stamping vs Gliding
I've recently purchased a Dr. Pen microneedling device.
I've seen a number of videos where people apply it to their skin gliding it around. I might be wrong but this doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
When electronic microneedling devices first came out, I saw when compared to the dermaroller, it's entry and exit from the skin, is like a straight line, which is much better for the skin. Whereas in a dermaroller, it's essentially entering and exiting the skin at an angle which can damage the skin and affects it negatively over time. So by using something like a Dr Pen/Dermapen etc the needle would enter the skin perpendicularly.
Okay, but if people are using Dr. Pen/Dermapen by gliding it across the skin, isn't that causing it to enter and exit the skin at an angle also? It could even be worse because it would essentially be like pulling the needle sideways while it's still inside(even though this will occur in microseconds).
So to me stamping seems like a safer way to do it. Only problem is, this takes much longer.
Let me hear your thoughts. Is stamping better and safer than gliding, or am I way off and it is good to go ahead and glide it in circular motions over the skin while microneedling?

Re: Microneedling - Stamping vs Gliding
I've tried both methods. Stamping seems to penetrate better and also like you said rolling/gliding while pressing hard might damage the skin more than intended. I was initially just rolling it, as I've seen on a video lightly, but then I looked it up and realized you should at least put some pressure into it to draw blood so I started stamping it. I haven't seen any benefits, but then lately I haven't done it regularly. Maybe it would show results after 6months+ regular use.MikeGore wrote:I've recently purchased a Dr. Pen microneedling device.

Anybody worried about getting infection from this?

Don't know. I wash the roller with hot water and soap after the session and then spray it with 70% alcohol. Never applied anything on my head afterwards.shaftless wrote:Anybody worried about getting infection from this?
