What is the term for the common skin/muscle appearance with people with arthritis

Since I don't have a term for it, I'll try to explain.

I've noticed this on my mother but not on my father who is actually older.

My mother has arthritis, which obviously affects the joints and cartilages, but I also noticed the skin and muscles could be affected from the inflammation as well. I don't know if it is a hormonal thing, but the curious thing is, if it is age related why my father doesn't have this same look on this skin e.g. on the arms.

It gives an inflamed look to the skin and as if the muscle is more loosely attached to the bones.

Basically I believe an arthritis sufferer has higher inflammation which could also mean they are aging faster. It's still early stages, but I remember my grandmother having that same appearance on her skin(who also had arthritis).

Arthritis is often simply thought of as a disease that affects the joints, cartilage and appearance of the bones. But I believe it may also affect the muscles and the skin, because I am noticing a common appearance generally not confined to joints on people who suffer from arthritis, and I don't think it can all be attributed to age, since older people without arthritis do not have this appearance I am talking about.

Probably inadequate connective issue, synovial joint fluid and/or hyaluronic acid and glycosaminoglycans.

Over 100 years ago, it was less common for these kinds of issues, because skin, ligaments and various animal tissues, bone broths were consumed.

When there's a plant-based emphasis on diet, these issues become common place.
