stinky tofu may be a source of s-equol for hair growth
You never hear of equol anymore. They have done experiments with it for women menopause but apparently it's not available as a supplement. However fermented tofu products contain some equol in it. You can order off of amazon jars of fermented tofu but you might be able to buy it at a chinese grocery too. The question is, how much of it do you have to eat to have some effect on your hair follicles?

Lots of posts on this if you search within the upper-left-hand corner (switch the default "inside" to Google" and it will select some of those posts.
Years before this forum, I spent weeks and months and years researching this as it seemed that it had potential, and there were some oral supplements that came out here and there. None of them were ground breaking.
The impression left based on what some were reporting is that it depleted the androgens too much. So you can see where this might lead.
Another supplement that I looked at that had similar promise is Pueraria mirifica. It won't take a lot of searching to figure out what could happen there. Suffice to say, the potential to work is there, but it's for the wrong gender.
