Lanostane-type triterpenes from the sclerotium of Inonotus obliquus (Chaga mushrooms) as proproliferative agents on human follicle dermal papilla cells.

Lanostane-type triterpenes from the sclerotium of Inonotus obliquus (Chaga mushrooms) as proproliferative agents on human follicle dermal papilla cells.
Sagayama K1, Tanaka N1,2, Fukumoto T3, Kashiwada Y4.
Chaga mushrooms, the sclerotium of Inonotus obliquus, have been used in Mongolia as a traditional hair shampoo to maintain healthy hair. Bioassay-guided fractionations of the extract of Chaga mushrooms using a proliferation assay on human follicle dermal papilla cells (HFDPCs) gave five lanostane-type triterpenes (1-5), whose structures were identified by spectroscopic evidence. Among these, lanosterol (1), inotodiol (3), lanost-8,24-diene-3β,21-diol (4), and trametenolic acid (5) demonstrated proproliferative effects on HFDPCs more potent than minoxidil, an anti-alopecia agent, used as the positive control. The lanostane-type triterpenes (1, 3, 4, and 5) appeared to be potential candidates of new agents possibly used for hair-care with a stimulative effect on hair growth.

Im wandering if topical or internal would be better
Also reviews on other forums of drinking chaga tea and hair regrowth...

Holy crap! That guy was right. Can't remember his name now, but he had a really long thread last year about his homemade cilantro topical and then it morphed into a chaga topical that he swore by.

Sage 1, so basically just use the chaga mushroom now and not the whole cilantro topical thing? Is this stuff safe topically, someone mentioned the sting is intense. I don't mind that, but if I get other weird symptoms like low blood pressure, I have panic disorder and I'll probably have a small panic attack or something.
I really want to try this though, I guess I could just spot-test it for my own peace of mind and then slowly build up.
So would something like this be ok?
https://www.vitaminshoppe.com/p/om-organic-chaga-100-g-powder/oom1002
It's in powder form so I suppose I just mix it with some water or something? I really like buying powders and making it myself if it's simple.

I ordered alchohol tincture and yes stings too bad
I would suggest making a strong chaga tea and applying that

Thanks
Does it have to be alcohol or can I just use water? Is the powder ok like I linked? I like buying in bulk like that rather than a few tea bags. Do you have any idea what ratio of liquid-powder I'd need? Or does CS know? That's my main problem, making sure I get the mixture right so I'm not just wasting it.

Anyones guess what the best concentration might be
Just experiment with boiling powder with waterto make a strong tea and keep refrigerated between uses.It might stain the scalp so if thats an issue you can wrap head with satan wrap after you apply topical to allow it to penetrate for half hour or so
You could also make a super concentrated tea or just mix the powder with liposomal base like phlogel which should help absorption and it might be the less messiest way as well

Ok thanks! Can I just make it like a regular tea, boil water, add the powder then take it off the heat and let it sit?

Regarding the full text of the study, if you copy the Pubmed address into Sci-Hub it is available. The domain moves sometimes but at the moment it's sci-hub.tw
Looks like they tested an ethanol extract in the study. Websites with info about mushroom extracts suggest alcohol for triterpinoid extraction.

Maybe addind the tincture to a liposome base would be the answer as products like phlogel have a soothing anyionflammatory effect so it might calm down the stinging
Best to mimic the study if they used an alchohol yincture
And liposome would help it penetrate better as well

Hmm, so if I should use alcohol, I obviously don't boil it, so just mix it with the chaga powder? And just kind of experiment with the mix ratio? And what type of alcohol, I hear vodka works ok? And this won't absorb through my skin enough to get me tipsy, will it? Because I'm light and never drink so I can't handle alcohol.

Hi,
Still use the Chaga with some other ingredients, found out that the most efficient way Is to use It every other or every third day.
Your hair has to recover from the alcohol, when I put it every day my hair was quiet thin, but now It´s a lot thicker as mentioned above.

Couldn't you let the chaga sit in alcohol for a few days/week then boil off the alcohol in a double boiler?

I just let the chaga in the tincture along with other ingridients, so I don´t boil it.
The best part is that it works, and really cheap.

What is the mixture ratio? I'm going to buy Chaga powder so I can measure it better and it will last longer for me. Like a few tablespoons of alcohol (vodka?) with a teaspoon of powder or something like that? I hope I can use cheap vodka since I won't be drinking it lol

What strength tincture were you using that was causing the stinging? Maybe it was the combination of minox and the tincture?
I've just started using a 1:3 30% tincture and not experiencing any stinging.

Here's the full link. One alternative to purchasing the full study is to write the the study authors. They may give you a copy of the full version for free.

Well, after a couple of days my scalp started to feel itchy, and after skipping a day it still feels a bit sore. Seems the tincture may have been a bit too strong after all
